I was just really keen to see what you could do with that blower!!

Was dissappointed you gave it the flick before you got to finish it,
But yeah Capacity will definitely be a head start

well seeing as im going 5 stud on the front i thought i may as well do the rear

So i've decided to fit a 3.45:1 LSD borgy from an EF Ghia, Im shortening the housing in my shed and will have a mate respline the axles

complete conversion should cost under $300 (including the cost of making the jig which i can use again)

as pulled from car
Image

Image

Cleaned housing
Image

Jig i made to keep the diff aligned while welding once its cut down
Basically the bar passes through the diff and the collars go where the center and axle bearings go

Here we go, no turning back now :o

went in fairly easy just had to give the opening of the trans tunnel a tender bashing and a smear of KY and that was it no modding the firewall, cross member or the sump

Image

Image

Image

Plenty of room (kinda), though i'll need to fit a holden 6 water pump to gain an extra 45mm of room in the front

tomorrow i'll whip up some engine mounts, mod the Sigma gearbox mount, and throw the tail shaft in

Image

engine sits about 25mm further back now

I like how you just sound so blase about just knocking up this and that. I would be doing my head in

Nice work Agmis. Wish I could do half the stuff you can?

Keep up the good work, can't wait to go for a spin in this when it's done

pretty straight forward so far.
How much room are you going to have around the Tranny to allow for engine movement?

what exhaust manifold are you going to use on the Drivers side bank to clear the Steering box and tuck inside the Chassis rails?

can you use extractors, or stock manifolds?
or will you have to make your own?

will you have plenty of room between top of carb and filter, to bonnet?
It would be good to not have to use a Scoop to keep the sleeper look

The bonus about it being a sigma Dan is that the steering box is on the other side of the chassis rail to waht our cars are, so read more room. Hell of alot easier than with a Lancer or a Galant... :S

Cheers

oh yeah plenty of head miles and measurements is what makes the fab work easy

engine looks a little nasty but its a fresh std 302 which is what i need (for now) once its passed i'll fit a nice CD218-52A blue racer cam, i have a 2800rpm stall converter, roller rockers, HEI dizzy and a single plane intake sitting here, should make a nice little street engine

dunno about headers yet mate

should be plenty of room for an air cleaner as the std ford one kinda drops down over the carb and yeah plenty of room for the trans

Its sitting on a lump of wood at the front and the gearbox crossmember

yeah a windsor would be a fair bit easier due to their head design, windsor is still a 90* V its just it has a shorter deck and compact heads that make it look like a tighter V

Sounds the goods!

What about fitting the 351 Guts in the 302 Block?
Im sure you thought about it but.

Or reversing the pipes and fit a Snail, but not really a streeter then ;)

Looking good Mick

RE- VR4RETROFIT

The older Windsors are getting pretty hard to come by now arent they?
Unless you could buy a late model Injected motor, in a wrecked Falcon EB plus,
and you can change to Carby...

Yeah thought about using a 351 crank and 302 rods, might be something for the future, TMD do some 427ci cleveland stroker kits for $2500

Also have a GT42 turbo ;-)

I did consider getting an EFI windsor but I already had a clevo

engine and trans is mounted, still needs final welding

Trans mount was simple just needed to add a plate to the sigma crossmember to pick up the ford box, tail shaft is done all i done was use a std length 6 cyl cortina shaft

Didn't bother with the normal style engine mounts and decided to go with an engine plate, this will give me heaps of room for exhaust headers once I cut the sigma mounts off the crossmember

Im hoping to use off the shelf falcon V8 pacemakers

Engine plate is made from 4mm mild steel plate the rubbers and pieces that fit to the chassis rail are the mounts that i cut off the falcon diff

Image

All i did was remove the timing case cover and marked out the holes
Image

engine in its final position, still needs to be tig welded and trimmed into shape

Just a few more pics for those who care

Drivers side extractors are done still need to finish the passenger side

Engine with factory water pump leaves no room for a radiator, solution was to gut an alloy pump cut it down then weld the hole up and run a davies craig 115 ewp

Image
Image

The other problem was the rocker cover fouled on the brake booster, the cover had already been bashed to get it to kinda fit but it was no way to fix the problem and leaves me no room for roller rockers

Solution was to fit a smaller booster, after lots of looking and measurements I decided to go with a datsun stanza booster as it was the closest to what I needed, and it turns out my mate uses them for hotrods and they work a treat

Still was not a bolt in swap as the bolt pattern was slightly different and the bolt are to short, I had to dismantle both the sigma and stanza booster and remove the long bolts from the sigma unit then cut the one off the stanza booster redrill and fit longer bolts, anyhow with a little stuffing I got there in the end

Need to re route the bake lines
