absolutely love driving this thing, its much more than I expected

A v8 is exactly what a sigma needs

Damn you Mitsubishi you could have had a winner if you had just slotted in a V8 like a 318

yes- it would have saved you all that work. :P

I reckon if the oil crisis in the mid seventies (and again in 1980) weren't so bad, Chrysler Australia would have been in business long enough to include a hemi-6 powered sigma in the line-up- just like they did with the Centura.

just read this whole thread. so jelous. wish i trusted myself to build an awesome car. but no knowledge, tools, and space make the sad prescription for a disaster. would cost 3x your cost to get someone else to build me one :(

maybe your overestimating my capabilities :P

i would love to do a slow build of something. engineering a car in SA cost 2-2.5 grand alone. purchase the car, fix the body and paint, buy and install engine, make new engine mounts, etc. as you know the list goes on. im only 22 and would describe my mechanical knowledge as quite poor so until i have tools and a garage i think i have to let the dream sleep for a while......

Stage 2 is just about to get underway (i think  )

this means i'll be rebuilding the top end porting the heads fitting some quality valve train and installing a nice hyd cam

Then
setting up a coil near plug ignition system sequential fuel injection and a fuel system designed to feed 700hp (not that i'll need it )

first up i'll post some eye candy  not that any of this stuff is of any use to most sigma owners
Image

custom EFI manifold

sheet metal rocker covers

CompCams 280h cam, ovate wire valve springs, 10 deg retainers and locks, pro magnum lifters and stainless roller rockers

Rollmaster Billet timing set

Speed Pro hardened push rods

Powerbond Race Balancer, needs to be modified for a 36-1 trigger wheel

Bosch Motorsport 044 fuel pump

Fuel tank sump kit

Cam angle sensor, for sequential injection
Image

Other parts that are on their way

Ls2 truck coils, these things will knock you off your feet

Magnafuel 70 and 25 micron fuel filters

Microtech Lt16 ecu and hand controller

plus lots of other goodies

Im excited about this stage of the build, lots of tricky things to figure out

Was good to see this thing when dad and I picked up that 2L, looks pretty tidy in person :)
Will be awesome once you're done. Cheaper skids than a turbo Anchortron, that's for sure :P

im not really chasing power at the moment though im looking at conservative 350-370hp at the engine , cam is pretty tame and comp is only 9.5, bottom end is all factory 1973 and the factory needs to be replaced

its more a base to sort out the injection and ignition, as it wont matter if i get the tune wrong and kill the bottom end once its all sorted i'll build something with more cubes comp and cam

and cheers webby
