Nice mate! It'll be a wild shock to many who come up against her im sure.

Do you trust that 90 degree cooler pipe hose man? Im suspicious of its strength for sure.

Great, the motor is running...although a little roughly. Its a bit loud though, suppose it does have the 3 inch exhaust...no turbo now it was to be expected .

Yep she would idle and nothing else initially.I would try to rev and it would die...You really need to keep the stock TS/TR airbox with the loom and all the sensors when you do it.
I am pretty happy with where i am at.LC Lancer with turbo less JDM 2.6 Starion engine ,custom extractors, and full 1996 TS Magna Multipoint EFI (except for the plenum itself)...Should be able to get registration now after the modification check.

Things needing to be done.
1.The clutch doesnt engage ...unsure of why..cannot drive it at all.Does it need a rebuilt slave cylinder?
2.Bad water leak from heater, even when off.
3.Thermos need connecting up to automatically operate when required.
4.Fix the centre console.
5.Finish interior.
6.Have airpipe made for stock airbox.
7.Wiring to sort out ...losing ignition on start.
8.Why doesn't the ECU run the fuel pumps?.
9.LH brake light stays on all the time???
10.Panels and paint.
...wow there are a few things still hey!
10 plus "X" :D .Enjoy ,power to weight ratio should be greater than in my Starion

>Now installing full Starion pedal box and master instead of going with modified LC pedal.
>Gearbox to come out .Unexpected but necessary ...will have to be a custom clutch I'm told.
>Have replacement heater box.

If I can get all that done by Feb I will be happy!

Starion clutch pedal box installation...the modded original one would probably never have worked. It is quite easy. You only have to position it right ..bending of a bit of the upper bracket was needed.Afterwards I removed the entire LC clutch pedal..

The master cylinder..only had to remove a small piece of Lancer metal to get the position as high up as possible for the top nut.
The extractors are custom 4-2-1.You can't see the O2 sensor in this photo

New fuse box I made up .
1.Lift pump
2.Hi pressure pump.
3.Starter motor.
4.Thermo fans.
Other wires on circuit breaker go to into cabin.

I didn't use the lancer coil loom at all ( see loose wiring to hide). (H)
Notice the oil catch can from a Starion?

I agree. You should have used duct tape.

Something else I just saw, you are using pretty much the same fuse box I am for my EFI conversion on my GN.

OK ..it'll be done professonally soon as I fix the clutch problem and drive it to the exhaust fitter..the electrical tape was just something I had lying around...being an electrician I have stacks of it!. Was only ever going to be temporary.

Yes , for me the wiring you've described to get her running in your excellent post, i.e. the fuses that run off the positive, the ignition etc ...the ones for the ECU and the control relay ...I have tapped power from off the ignition barrel (key) where I actually have them under my dash near my knees.
I have used those long black screw up fuseholders for cylindrical fuses for this part.Theres not a lot of wiring in a lancer, and ample room to hide it all.!...even though the clutch pedal gobbled up some space
Cheers (H)

Removed box, found throwout bearing gummed up ...going out and staying there.
More issues, the clutch is totally stuffed.Guess that's what you get for not being able to drive a half cut.

New replacement $395 cheapest .Ouch..
By the way, being a 240mm diameter (not 225mm like sigmas) finding the right one took a while.
The clutch was also used by Mitsubishi on the import Challenger V6's...

Hi , how did you go with the steering box,, I have trouble with my extractors ..To close to the box, it keeps buggering up the seal. I guess a heat shield would help

I don't have a steering box anymore because the previous owner had converted it to a rack and pinion set-up.
I am koping it is a good job..unsure of the donor car or any details.Have spare LC if things go wrong...its about the only way to get parts for these cars .We own the last 4 in Brisbane I reckon.

Cheers mate

Flywheel differences that I noted between the Jap/US Starion 2.6 and the GN Sigma .Both flywheels for 2.6.
The one on the left i had lightened for my other rebuilt engine. It was 282 mm across and weighs 10.4 kg.
The one on the right was from the import engine it was 302 mm across and weighed 9.7 kg. So it was lightened by someone , apparently they were 16kg new!.You can see more steel has been removed on the RHS one .

With a little effort the gearbox will be done by tomorrow.!!

I have fortunately purchased a diff for the project , picked up on Wednesday .
It is a shortened Scorpion diff with a 3.3 ratio.this should be closer than my stock Lancer one at 3.9 or so , and will give me more accurate speedo readings, as well as being stronger .Even have the right gear for the speedo.
The guy I bought it off had it in his Galant so track will be fine.Very helpful and knowledgable.Just a note he owns no less than 5 Galants!.2 modern H seres ones , 2 4-dr Chryslers and 1 2-door Galant that was a FULL import..no compliance plate, with a 4G63 transplant and Quad throttle bodies!.
Cheers!

I tried to convince him to be an active member when he was at the jap car show at pine rivers park a few months ago. He would be a real assets if we could convince him to come on board. He's got his car on cardomain though. He's got a really nice set up with his 4g63 install too and even retained his heater by swapping a tap from a completely different car. Apparently the coupes have a different heater than the galants due to them being a jap made vehicle which allow for the swap from a sierra or something like that.

I managed to get her running with the pod filter, so this looks under the bonnet now.
Image

The interior with 2 inches centre console plastic removed, for shifter/ handbrake clearance.Thats where i put the ECU too...on the wal next to the passengers left foot
Was going to get new carpet($190) in red but no holes cut out for shifter or handbrake :\ !
Image.

Clutch in and seems to work fine after a few minor hassles.
By the way you DO need to brace the top of the starion pedal.Heres where I did it.A custom angle iron piece.1 bracket hole bolted to one of the steering colomn bolts, the second via the pedal adjust bolt.If you don't the clutch will have worn out a lot quicker.

Brake problem was leaking rear cylinder and faulty master .Air everywhere.
Brief test drive afterwards ...this car has a lot of power (most) around the 4-5000 RPM range.
The sound at 4000 is something else!.May need to tone it down a little.

Next problem , looks like the waterr pump is stuffed .
One thing after another here.
I actually already have a new one but I want to get my hands on a turbo one as it has a water return for the stock turbo.
Its the timing cover that has a oil return in it. :)

At the safety check stage now.

Turbo water pump didn't arrive in time, normal one went in.
Modification plated after a few issues were dealt with
The steering is no good that previous owner had no idea what he was doing ...mod guy didn't see...didnt put it on a hoist.OHHH #@&*+% not a good feeling to get it knocked back for that.
Not only that he's torn a huge gash in the trans tunnel where he was supposedly going to cram a CA18DET gearbox in...yeah right!Sarc!
I've just removed a good Power steering box and linkages from our wreck so all should be good soon...back to normal

p.s don't buy ICE brand thermo switches ...they break.
