little hulk

Post by stealth »

So after 13 years in the shed here's my lancer. It's the first lancer I owned and my first car it was a daily driver until 2002 when it was de registered with multiple defects due to new engine and not engineered so the plan now is to make it legal again

So here is a couple more pics of how it is now
obviously its still packed full of crap and has spare windows on the roof as well as the trusty car cover
I will try to get some more pics going , as the plan is to get it going again and there is a huge amount of work to be done

Well I have options for the gearbox
I ran a w58 with a custom bellhousing , but didn't like the set up
I have a tci turbo 350 and custom adaptor plate , but don't really want to run a auto
So the winner is a triton gearbox , im going to try how it goes as its super close ratio and huge
And as for the rest all custom made and I have to remake most of it again as the 6g72 is different to the 6g74

So hulk got its first tech inspection yesterday , and the rear end and seats passed and are legal , thats the good news on the bad side is I can't use the block I got I need to get a 2.5 lt as its currently blue plated with 2.6 turbo and under the nocp you can only go 2.6 na or 2.0 with boost , point is I can only go 2.6 on boost or less so 6g73 na is the plan
Now to find a block and throw paint the rear end so it looks respectable

I wouldn't trust that seller lol. Claims its mivec tested but it's a great model non mivec engine. 6a12 doesn't really respond to well to turbo either, it's a real pain in the ass to tune around the hard mivec kick in or a non mivec with less power. Shame it has to be 2l you could put a 6a13 in instead

I still think a non mivec 6a12 with aftermarket cams, GT2871r with crossover pipe, PS1000 running a eflex sensor would hall ass. 10psi on 98 and 20psi on e85. Boost at 3krpm & 250+kw.

I can go 2.5 turbo its equivalent to the 2.6 turbo so its ok the problem with the 6a engine its another bellhousing pattern again and different everything else as well
So Im thinking 6g73 dohc na for now get it all running and add wizzers as required

My bad
I should have said that if it wasn't already engineered with the 2.6 turbo I would have to comply with the new rules but as it is engineered and im not going any bigger I only have to comply with the engines year model emissions
Does that make sense

I don't know if that's an LA or LB but just had a quick look at weights

The government Road Vehicle Descriptor has the LB weight listed as 860kg so if using NCOP you can go 2365cc forced induction or 3440cc na

The colour is Panama green
The weight is a good one .
On the original NSW rego paper it says 825kg
When I weighed it back in 1992 stock as , full of fuel (45lts) it weighed 846kg
With the astron turbo , sigma struts brakes and 10" rear drums 8bolt lsd it was 930
But Qld transport claim it weighs 795 ?
But either way we're going of the blue plate that already covers it for a 2.6 lt turbo so as long as I make all parts to Oem std it will pass easy

So after a little bit of stuffing around, stripped the engine down to a long motor, cut a decent part of the sump out to miss the crossmember
Then hung the motor and gbox where I want it be
Unfortunately I had to cut a huge part of the firewall and tunnel so there's some serious panel work to add to the list
But im now making a pair of Oem style mounts and a gbox crossmember
Then onto the water in/out but one thing at a time
