GH wagon body kitting

This is couple of photos of my GH wagon, starting with it as it was after 3 years of owning it and now getting a body kit and paint job. and yes this is all a back yard cheapy job using stuff that was going to be dumped lol.
after getting it back from my sister.

I think it look alright from the back, but the front bumper has a lot of curves on an otherwise square/ boxy shaped car.
Maybe if a new front spoiler was made to graft onto the bottom of the original front bar to imitate the rest of the kit.

I'm all for something different, And Metaldrift certainly has achieved that.
With finished paint and panel work, it will look much better.
Would just like to see more mods to the front spoiler....

Danturbolancer, yeh the bottom piece is EF, top piece is off XF, 6 inch cut out, side skirts are phase 5 kit with 10 inch cut out, rear skirt is phase 5 as well and hornet scoop on bonnet. I"m always after a different look, and cant say as I've seen many sigma's with bodykits round, specially wagons lol. Thanks for the good words!

75wagon, I will actually be smoothing the front skirt with fibreglass into one piece with no lines up the top, also the rear skirt will be fibreglassed as it looks alright in pics but up close had to cut the crap out of it to fit and dont want the horizontal bar for the towbar hanging out like that. Am also planning on making wheel arch flares by hand to make the kit flow better. I also have a XC Cobra bonnet cut down and fitted to standard sigma bonnet frame that eventually will be fitted when fixed (some ass jumped on it when I had it fitted before). I have been trying to get new wheels, went and looked at a pair, drove home, got money and he'd sold them lol (teach me to have my wallet next time). I also have got the paint already, will be monza red, am practicing my airbrushing and when i get good will do some airbrushing on it myself.

I'm all for being different, I just like lines that match. It's not a criticism, it's just my opinion.
I admire metaldrift is giving it a go. Personally i reckon if you'd stuck with the XF bumper all the way it would've suited the square lines of the sigma while still looking different. For me the whole bumper section is too tall for the relatively narrow GH. If that makes sense? lol

Anyway will be interesting to see the final product.

I reckon the EL bar looks kinda weird, I woulda gone with an XE s-pack bar instead but still, kudos for being different

With working at a servo and having a baby due in two months haven't got the $$ to be buying a skirt kit, so this is the best with what I had lying round. If I wanted to spend the $ I prob would have handmade whole kit and turned it into a wide body, doing guards, doors ect as well. But since only costing me $400 for skirts and painting this would have to classified as a cheap job, but I reckon she'll look a lot better than she did!

Hey metal Just a thought, could you Build up some Fibre glass, or bog what ever you are using, to mould around the Bonnet scoop, and make it look like its actually part of the bonnet?

Might look alittle smoother?

Thats what i have done will be bolting onto my sigma once i have painted it properly. I ended up making up the mod from 3 bonnets. 1 XB bonnet and 2 sigma bonnets. One sigma one for the main frame and one damaged one to grab the framing to allow for the bonnet to be properly supported and look kinda stock. I think these scoops are the best for the sigma shape and should provide a bit of really needed extra cooling for the engine.

You look like your doing your's different to mine, Mine's a sigma frame with skin removed and the XC skin put on and sized to it. here's a couple pics as it is now, you can't really tell but there's waves in it from the %*^% who jumped on it, but it's all metal, no bog, and will be fixed back that way when I get a oxy setup again ( the reason it aint been fixed yet, have to do it properly).

yeh Danturbolancer, I could do that but as u see in the pics I got another bonnet I want on the car, this bonnet is a fill in till I get the XC one fixed, just threw the hornet on there to look different lol.If I did do your suggestion, for that amount of filling I'd be using sheet metal or most likely fibreglass, or you'd be adding 3 to 4 kg of bog on there lol (it's not that high but is 40 or so cm's long).

And the car has been getting painted where u see it in photo's, so I should be calling this a front yard job lol. Hope to get primer and dints fixed up in next 2-3 days.
Also had a problem when I went to take tow bar out, All the bolts where rusted in and snapped em off lol, so going to drill them out and get new ones in, so if i get a trailer on it, it dont snap off .

Also anyone know of a car that has rear tail lights that come in clear lenses that could possibly fit into the back of the wagon? Depending on $$ (just paid $400 to get 2 dogs out of the pound) I was going to fibreglass the rear numberplate in like the inset ones you see on utes, and thought some clear ones might look good, thought of commy rear ute light's but too tall. any ideas?

Well you could use a mini trucks clear lights, there are loads of them and they are fairly cheap i think..?

Heaps of different makes and models to try to match up a similar size too...


Yeah the XC bonnet will look good.

Ive seen heaps of em on 4cly cars, Escorts, Celicas...
Dont think ive ever seen anyone do a Sigma, will be interested to see how it comes out!

I think i would have preferred to transplant all the skin of the bonnet like you and have the added strength of the bracing like i've got. Wasn't too keen on the flex it had with no bracing. Unfortunately the skin was a bit too rusty to use completely and had to go for a compromise. I have seen one other car with the XC vents but it was done pretty crappy and had a V8 under the hood.

Thanks Dan, will look into it, might head down to supercheap and see what they got,didn't think of mini trucks (I, more of a fan of big trucks lol). Here's a pic of my F500 I'll be restoring at some time, probably to be used as car carrier.

and that's the 2 dogs, who are now at the pound again and as i dont have $$ to get them out will be at the RSPCA in a week or two!(require 6ft fence and concrete edging lol) . About $1500 of dogs in them two lol.





Whoops, I do like the idea of your added bracing and am going to be bracing mine up a bit, but probably only using blocks of foam/rubber, it used to be good without it though. good luck with yours!

yer had two of them dogs i took care of when i was managing this property, bloody eat heaps of meat and as they didnt feed them it came out of my fridge! couldn't let them go hungry but fuck knows whats happened to them now, i left there as they went bankrupt... with the property totaling over 12 million?

my mate has one of them, now his finding out how much effort those damn dogs need, also its good your got 2... my mate only has one.. they need company.

im pretty keen to see how it turns out man. Im not keen on the front bar either with cruve against square looking way out of place but once painted and some other angles the results could be surprising.

Cheers mate, hears a couple more pics of it, this is with only one coat of paint and still some smoothing to go on body, the front bar will be worked on later and painted as it is a bolt on setup, also the rear will be cut and new bar put on to.

mate i have to be honest i think the rear bar isnt the issue the front is...

Keep filling the rear out to smooth it in and then come back to the front and start thing AE86, corrolla, Lancer even but steer away from that rounded nose of the falcon, you'll hit something real nice, with some tough edgy lines and an agressive front end. The ford bonnet vents n that will match in well, you dont need a rounded front bar to get away with it.

Seriously ditch the rounded front bar keep the rear.
