1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
Re: 1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
Not yet, still a way off. Engine still needs to be removed, head taken off and skimmed as well as block, engine cleaned, new cometic head gasket, arp head studs, 3mm lifters, and seals all around, then I can put my 272 cams and kelford springs in, with hks cam wheels/belt, gates balancer shaft belt (if I don't remove). Then there's fuel rail and injectors, both manifolds, turbo, turbosmart gate, bov and boost tap. Have to find a shortened hilux diff with 4 stud and disc brakes, the list keeps going haha. I'm getting there though, just getting the dirty jobs out the way firstLooks great mate! so... Is she running now?
Re: 1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
certainly looks like a tight fit but looks like it works! what size turbo you going to be running on this? main reason i ask is if i was to do a 4g63t conversion in the future into my gc galant i was wondering if whether people putting some decent horsepower to the ground decided to reinforce their chassis to prevent chassis twist or what?

Re: 1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
Haven't decided on the turbo yet, I want something small enough to get boost at low rpm or I'll just be spinning the wheels all day. I'm going for around 300kw so I will be making a strut bar for the front and one in the boot, maybe a half cage too. I will be looking into some sort of under body bars to help with chassis flexing also.

Well now I'm just jealous
If you've got that much clearance you wont have a problem. You could barely slip a sheet of paper betweeny cas and the firewall and it never caused a problem. It never rubbed and there was enough clearance to set timing.

A friend of mine had an immaculate LA with 35,000 original kms, kicking myself for not buying it off him
You wouldn't happen to have any spare parts would you?
Needing both front indicators, both headlight surrounds, interior light plastic and possibly front quarter panels.

What are you doing for brakes and can you make me a thermostat relocation
thingy
jump on oldschool.co.nz if you havnt already, good bunch of guys on there
Re: 1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
I just had a proper read of the thread. EX struts wont work because the spring platforms are too big. I have a set of starion struts with the smaller platforms welded on that I wont be using for mine
Re: 1976 LA Lancer 4g63t Build
Not sure about brakes yet, but I'll most likely get some custom brackets made for some bigger brakes and get some vented and slotted discs. What are you doing for brakes and can you make me a thermostat relocation
thingy
I haven't made my thermostat relocation pipes yet, but I'll let you know how that goes when I come to it.
I'll be making coil overs out of the ex struts, so no need for the starion ones. But thanks for the offer
Have you got a build I can check out?

my build thread is here: http://oldschool.co.nz/2011/forum/index ... la-lancer/
I'm planning on using VR4 legnum brakes on mine, mainly because a mate of mine has a similar setup on a LB with a 4G63,
havn't had a chance to look into making the adaptor plates for them yet, but it should stop well
