New Member 71 GTO Colt/Galant

Post by 71GTOgalant »

Hi all,
Just got this 1971 GTO Colt/Galant. Bought it as it is. Always wanted a Galant Coupe bot didn't know until a few years back that there were GTO models. Saw this for sale and just had to get it. It's a MII model with factory 5 speed, dual carbies, re-ground cam and extractors. I've attached some photos. Hopefully you can see them. Hope you like it.

Jeff

Welcome to the site mate, awesome ride, I am crazy jealous. Out of interest you didn't happen to buy it from a blonde chic in QLD did ya?

Nice ride. If you don't mind me asking how much did it set you back and where did you manage to find it. I think most galant lovers on here will be very jelous.

Thanks for the welcome.

I saw this car on a web site about 3 years ago and just absolutely loved it. I get Unique Cras magazine sent to me and saw it for sale about 2 months ago and thought I just have to have it. It was for sale for $9500 and we negotiated from there. Yes the car did belong to a blonde chic in Brisbane, Janene. So I flew up to Brisbane and drove it back to Newcastle. Great fun. A great car to drive.

How did you find out about the site?
Didn't hear about it on Sunday by any chance?

Welcome to the site BTW, I think GTO's are awesome  I definitely have to see this one.

If you're interested in meeting up with local members I don't think you could be in a better place. Newcastle members are very active and meet up a lot, and always seem to have a strong presence at Sydney cruises too.

I think there is a Go Kart nite coming up again soon if you are interested?
Here are some pix of the last one.

Welcome to the site Jeff, great to have another GTO on here.
I've seen that GTO on cardomain before and looks to be a very nice GTO.
You'll have to come along to the next cruise and hopefully we can get Tony to bring his GTO along as well.

Dave, Looks like we missed out.

Hi Dave

Yeh that's where I first saw the car years ago and first found out about the GTO's. It looks great with the Sigma Turbo rims but they wouldn't sell the car with them. If some came up and Iv'e got enough cash it might be an option. If your planning a cruise let us know. I'm a shift worker so we'll see if I have the day off.
I first heard about the website from seeing your wagon on the Cardomain website. Looks good.

Hi Dean,

Where you in Newcsatle on Sunday? You should have yelled out to me. I work in that building next to the car. Is that a V6 in the Galant? Can't wait to check that out. My first car was a GD galant. Not like that though.
