GAZ914
Hi, I'm Gaz
My first drive of a car was in a '74 GB Galant- It was mum's car that she bought new. 1400 Saturn, drum brakes all 'round, vinyl seats and dealer fitted radio.
After driving other cars, I decided a Galant was the go!
I bought a GB rally car in need of some serious TLC, which was scrapped after I bought a GA with a decent shell. This was around 1981.
Swapped all the good stuff from the rally car and had a ball with that doing club motorsport until I had given it such a hard time, I decided a re-shell was in order.
Bought a GB shell from a wrecker and swapped bits over - this time it looked OK too!
While I was doing that, I bought a GH Sigma as a daily. Eventually swapped that with mum's Galant.
Traded the Galant in on a new JD Camira in 1985.
Sold the rally car when I moved away and then it was a while before I had one again.
Cue 1988 and I needed a work wagon, so I bought a GC wagon and stuck an import 4G52 and 5-speed into it. GE Sigma (SE) seats, GH struts and brakes + GH Booster/master cyl.
Wasn't that fast but did lots of kms in it. Eventually I had to fix a heap of rust, so I sprayed it white with Dulux house paint with Electric Blue bumpers.
In between, I bought and sold another GC wagon and a GE sedan to make some cash.
When my first daughter was due, we needed something better that the GC wagon, so I bought a GJ wagon.
Sold that when daughter 2 came along, as we couldn't fit enough stuff in it.
When my eldest daughter turned 12, we bought a GJ sedan to use in club motorsport. This was dubbed the "Sigma of Death" (SoD).
Nothing special, just a rebuilt 4G54 with EFI, race seat and harneseses, Pedders H/duty front springs and shocks.
I also ended up with another GJ sedan, which was was in better condition.
After bending the LHF chassis rail on the SoD, we swapped the bits into the nicer GJ and "SoDII" was born.
I bought a GA rolling shell fitted with a Triton LSD as a future project, which has been sitting on the front lawn for a while.
The SoDII has lasted a couple of years doing motorkhanas and khanacrosses, but a few too many bumps into trees means that the drivetrain is going to go into the GA shell. This should be a good thing as we will lose about 200kg - more fasts!
So you can see I have had a few old Mitsubishis. Add to that my mates had Galants and Lancers as well and I have played with heaps of them!
cheers
Gaz

The GA look promising...
Are you planning on widening out the front to match the back?

Hi Cheater - Sure is, I had a top bloke do it for mecheaterparts wrote:Hi gaz - thats a good looking EFI set up
Well I could make a whole thread out of what has happened in the last 18 months...cheaterparts wrote:how have you been, are you still skiding in and out the witches hats
Short version: Quit job as company was going broke, couldn't find job due to the "global financial crisis", went back onto the tools (auto elec) full time plus every 2nd weekend on a NRMA van, wife decided she had enough and moved to Melbourne, eldest daughter doing HSC, youngest doing SC, wife couldn't find work in Melbourne, so I had to pay all the bills (investment property was killing me), saw job at current place and took that - so it has been a tough time!
So to answer your question, this last year has been pretty quiet on the motorsport front
Finally getting some "motorvation" to do some car stuff thanks to Hoonboy who let me drive his LC Lancer at Oran Park on the 20th
Pity I broke it...
Bring on 2010

I've been a bit in the same boat the 8th month of 2008 the phone stoped ringing - No workgaz914 wrote: Bring on 2010
so jan we got out of the factory and set up at home . I even had a few weeks on the dole ( first time since I started work in 1973 )
it took a while to get the 3 phase on - ( no 3 phase no fun ) anyway my machinery is running again and the cash flow is flowing the right way - I hope that keeps up
might get back into some motorsport myself
