Hi Alex3200, welcome to Sigma-Galant. It never ceases to amaze me where these cars end up, and the people who are fans of them. When you figure out how to post pictures of your Galant we'd love to check it out. I'd imagine getting parts for your car in Russia would be challenging. If you are after advice or information make sure you use the search function http://www.sigma-galant.com/search.php it will be your friend. Another friend that can help you will be this http://translate.google.com/#auto/ru/

Re: Russia here)
In Russia I can put all I want under the hood ) but there is other problem - parts and money and even old V8 too expensive here.
Yes I have a nice car. without "kolkhoz" )
This car left side hand but has a frame but vin number A123A-1453442. And nobody can decode this number.
The story of my acquiring this car is about 3 years. The man who was owner is an old mustache man. He have a two old cars - MMC Galant 1979 and Ford Escort 1976. Ford in the garage and MMC outdoors.
I have seen this car when I am a student, about 6 years ago. It was a junk of the face of it. I'm was a driver and every week was driving my car beside MMC. Time after time I'm falling in love. And one day I decide to take an desperate step. I'm was ringing up all the apartments of this house. And one people says "climb stairs". And that was a beginning of our friendship. But it was a short happiness. I was opening the hood, sitting the the driver's seat. And that was an end of story.. the car was not selling. Every season I'm was visiting him and talking about cars and other things. I was frustrating and one day made the fantastic trip to the other and of Russia for the other car what I really love too - Pontiac Firebird 3gen
http://www.camarofirebird.ru/forums/ind ... %82%d1%8b/
there is story but on russian.
so, I was an owner of rare (in Russia) and beautiful (for me) car. This project still staying in my garage without process.3gen, northstar 4.6, 5l50e etc.(Madtuner gave me invaluable help there).
And one day my mobile ring... Alexey, would you like to drive Mitsubishi ?
...
it was fantastic moment.
I had no money but I really knew that this car would be mine.
After the 100km way home the water pump says me "dilin-dilin" and coolant flow through the broken bearing. etc.
The car was not so junk as it seemed. I was happy. some welding and now the car in the painting.
Engine 4g52 overhauled (except water pump) and other things are beautiful except battered bumpers and front side markers from "Zaporozhets" "ZAZ 968M" "ЗАЗ 968м" ))
And now I unsuccessfully trying to find the front side markers all over the world. Bumpers tried to order but chance of failure 70%. waiting.
Also I think about LSD. and original radio. and also question - engine. one way - To save the car in its original. and other way - V8.
All photo what I have are not mine. from photographers who interested in photo than retro cars and it was my luck.
Also I have found the R14 Enkei Apachi 1 wheels. in russia is fantastic. and think about machining extra wide rims, or buying.
so, if you have any question, opinions or desire to help - I will be grateful

Re: Russia here)
Good stuff Alex3200. Your 'Galant' was sold in Australia under the name 'Scorpion' and in most other countries 'Sapporo'. My brother had 2 of them and they were my favourite model of these.
And the answer is "Hell yes!" They don't handle on the road like a sports coupe but they have great styling and are unique. You should be able to get most smaller parts like the front side markers but will more than likely be from another market from outside the EU. We have a member who has access to an amazing supply of new old stock parts (NOS) in Manila and he may have some things you'll be looking for http://www.sigma-galant.com/viewtopic.p ... 66#p103063 He has unearthed light assemblies and hard to get items that have been in storage for over 20 years. Good luck with finding everything you need Alexey!Alex3200 wrote:And one day my mobile ring... Alexey, would you like to drive Mitsubishi ?

Very nice galant, they are called a Chrysler Scorpion is Australia which may help you in your search for information. (aw he beat me on that )
The most expensive car I've ever bought was a 1984 Mitsubishi... in 2014.

Given this info and the workshopmanuals I have, I can say A123A is the assignment of a 2000 GSR Sapporo, the other number (1453442) is just the serialnumber of the car. Do you still have the data-plate in the engine bay?Alex3200 wrote:This car left side hand but has a frame but vin number A123A-1453442. And nobody can decode this number.
I think Mitsubishi started to give more information from about 1985 with a longer VIN code. That one has info like where the car is made (Japan or other coutries, which version of the car you have, etc etc).

" They don't handle on the road like a sports coupe but they have great styling and are unique."
yes, car handling on the road like steamship. may be the springs too soft.
"Do you still have the data-plate in the engine bay?"
I will make a photo of data plate later.
this is funny for me - most people in russia are really interested in Lada Kalina, Renault Logan and Daewoo Matiz etc but Mitsubishi Sapporo and looking on my car says with laugh "you are go crazy boy, the hospital is your home"

Well, you're home now with all the other crazy old school Mitsubishi fanatics... Daewoo Matiz? Really? Man, those things are awful. You'd be safer driving a toaster with an engine in it (and it would look better). The Scorpion/Sapporo/Challenger (forgot they were marketted in the US under that model name) is a tough old beast. The main issue with how they handle is the suspension geometry - we have one or 2 members here that have modified Nissan Silvia front suspension assemblies to radically improve the road handling. The great thing about early Mitsubishis is access to a wide variety of compatible parts and engine/gearbox combinations. Most of the time its a simple 'unbolt and swap' to do an upgrade. Keep at it Alexey and show the local guys who's boss
