Hi, I'm superscan811 and I'm an EBAY JUNKIE

Postby Superscan811 » Thu Dec 17, 2009 11:35 pm

While I have been on the list for a while, I haven't really introduced my obsessions.

Scorpions..... (and Ebay)

Image

This of course doesn't include my GH and GJ Scorp's at Cheaters.

I have always liked the shape of the GE and GH scorps, the slope at the back instead of being squared off like the later models.

Image
Love the colour of the blue GH Scorp

BUT

Image
while the yellow one had a minor front end accident (this was before I bought it), the rest of the body and interior are in VGC.

Image
The Red GJ I bought in SA about 2 1/2 years ago, It had all the rust cut out of it and had been re-sprayed.
It's in excelent condition but I pulled it off the road last year because the engine was getting a bit smokey.

Image
This is my daily ride at the moment. Not pretty but it goes well enough.

Image
Image
These 2 GSR's are the exceptions (apart from my daily ride of course). I just can't go past an Ebay bargain.

The red GK is just a parts car I recently bought.
Image

The thing under the tarp is my CNC mill.
Still waiting on the council to approve my shed. :@
Image

That's about it.

Cheers.

Jeebus, and I thought I had a few lol
I have a GE, a GH and a GJ.
Josh
-Broken '81 GJ Scorpion- More problems than a mental institution. Should be back on the road soon :D
-Project '78 GE Scorpion- Almost mint, bar some rust and the lack of an engine. Bar lowering, factory twin downdrafts, a cam and an exhaust, I'm keeping this one as original as possible, 4G52 included.

Either you own a house or you have a very understanding landlord :)

It' a bit more complex than that.

My boss has bought it for another employee (who is paying him back), and he (my boss) is building me a shed to put the CNC mill,
lathe and other stuff in, so I can do his R&D design work (along with a lot of other car stuff of course).

The other employee's family will be living in the house (5 bedrooms) after the renovations are finished.
Her brother-in-law was an apprentice mechanic, and is happy to have the cars there and to help me work on them.

The yard is nearly 1500 square meters so there is plenty of room for several more Scorps.
There is already a 2 car garage along with 3 other large sheds which I am allowed to use as storage for my car bits.

One of the reasons they are being so nice is because I was wanting to buy the property but my wife didn't (it wasn't NEW), so I told them about it.
It was just too good a deal to let it slip away.

Even with the house being completely renovated (spending $60,000) and "my shed" being built ($25,000), it will still cost less than $500,000.
I seriously wonder about my wife's intelligence sometimes.

I had better stop here before I start getting too wound up about it.

Cheers.

Damn. I just bought another GE Scorp but it's up near Fraser Island, QLD (off Ebay of course).

Now I just have to figure how to get it down to Sydney.

Had to happen.
A '90 VR4 without engine and wiring harness came up on EBAY for the right price, so I guess the VR4 engine and harness I have down at Cheaters has found a new home...

Image

It comes with momo steering wheel, set of 17 inch wheels with good tyres, etc, etc...

This should be fun.

Cheers.

Too much if I'm honest about it but I figure there are worse things I could be spending my money on.
If I get a few of these cars back on the road I'll be very happy. The Scorps are getting to be a rare breed.

Galant_GT0 wrote:Hey super, you don't have the paint code for the blue on the GE do ya???
I'll have a look tomorrow and get back to you..

As you can see, I have a few more than 2 cars but yes, I find it very difficult to go past a bargain.
The VR4 was only $800 and the silver GSR was $200.

Just glad I don't smoke so I can afford to buy this stuff.

Cheers.

FINALLY. I have approval for my shed.. Yay.

100 + sq meters.

It has taken nearly a year (almost as long as it took Cheater to get th 3-Phase on) but it will be worth it.

A workshop with a manual and CNC mill, large and small lathe, along with other stuff.

I can't wait (only another 2 months).

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Cheers.

I've already spoken to the person. He wants it moved within a few weeks, which I probably wouldn't be able to do.
Bugger, because according to him, it has no rust at all...

Had a look at it today and I have no idea what it was off. There was a hell of a lot of plastic welding on it.
