Would this be suitable ITALIAN SOLEX C 48 ADDHE CARBURETOR WEBER ??E twin barrel sidedraught carburettor.

These carburettors have the same mounting (and airfilter) pattern as Weber DCOE and Dellorto DHLA series carburettors so any standard Weber manifold can be used

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe these would be way too big for a 1600, unless it was spinning to around 10,000rpm.
Unlike the Male appendage, bigger is not necessary better when it comes to a carbie.

You need a certain amount of air flow, especially at idle and the idle-mains transfer, for the carburettor to be able to tune it properly.

If the carbie is too small, the engine will idle great but won't rev out(restricted airflow).

If the carbie is too big, the only time the carbie will be "in tune" is when you are revving the crap out of the engine.

This is fine if you are building a track car where you are almost never idling, crap if you are building a daily ride.

Cheers.

the most you wood want is a 45 with small chokes 48 is way too much
but u are better off with a 40 ezyer to tune to suit a 1600

by the way dellorotos are hard to find parts for and are mostly plastic!

but these engines are so cheap, and make really good power, im worried that i wont be able to source all the right parts for the 4g32 with its age and that is only going to get harder. Has anyone done all this to there 4g32- extractors, full exhaust, sidedraft carb/carbs, what about cams???
what sort power can achieve out one of these

My 4G32 is ballanced with headwork, cam and twin SU copies. Never dynoed, but I'd guess 100hp. Standard is 95 I think.
I love the Saturn to death, but if you want to fast go 4G63BT.
I have a set of DCOE40s that Ive never put on because of the cost of setting them up.
Similarly, I have a T02 turbo setup sitting under the house.
Depends what you want - I like the Saturn cos its light, revs and sounds great.

i miss driving it :(

i miss my exhaust rattle without ppl in the back or going down hill, i miss my clunky gear box only to snap it in to rev the shit outa it and feel the car move beneath me (H)

love that car

If tats the case i think ill go with doin the 4g32 up
ill like the idea of keeping it alittle standard any way.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0ylWnk- ... re=related This sounds pretty tough,
i think ill go light metalic blue, recover the seats in a tan or black, go the extractors and exhasut and than figure out the whole carby thing later once i have been playing with it for a while
Cheers guys

They axle tramp pretty bad, that's really your only problem. A stock 1.6 will do it.

If all you want to do is get your tyres smokin', then start spinning it on the grass first and then edge it onto the tar once your wheels are up to speed, then it wont tramp.

I had my old GB doing circle work years ago, both wheels, no foot-ons and no hands on the steering wheel just going around in circles. Billowing smoke everywhere.
If that's what you want to do your car should be able to do it now... Of course I don't condone this sort of thing now because I'm way to old...... and of course this should never be done on a public road..... :P

yeh man get good engine mounts, good gearbox mount, and new shocks and you will be fine
extra leaf on the rear will make it go a lot better, but spins on the tar are tough in a straight line with any open diff, you get one wheel spins that from my experience wreck your diff, makes it loose.
but work up the 4g32 and do the above things and you will have a headturning easily licenced classic that is good on fuel when you need it to be and fun when you need it to be

my first car was a GD galant sedan with a stock belt driven 4g32 and stock diff with worn out shocks and springs and that thing would do doughnuts easily on tare both wheel spin and i used to turn it into corners and boot it and it would smoke the tyres right around the bend and it'll do the clock top speed. like shuggy said these galants are very fun cars and good on fuel when needed to be

its chain driven. if it was belt driven it would have a plastic timing cover on the front of the motor
