my 4G63T '73 Galant Wagon, "waGun"

Post by IncorpoRatedX »

Specs:

1973 Dodge Colt / Mitsubishi Galant Wagon
retrofit with a 6 bolt 4G63T, all stock except any cooling modifications to make it work in RWD fashion.
DSM wiring harness & ECU
stock 77 5 speed trans, new stock clutch and stock rear axle
mighty max aluminum radiator
K&N filter
2.25 exhaust with Yamaha crotch rocket muffler
evo8 intake manifold, welded and machined to fit
SRT4 fmic
Diamond Racing 15x8 15x10 combo, 195/50 and 225/50's

Runs on 5psi from the stock 14b, runs good and quiet, built mostly for 'style' and to be something you rarely see on the road. Fast isnt really in the cards for this one, it's just fun to cruise around with.

Here's where it's headed:

I also have an MK1 duck bill for it and rivet on fender flares. If the weather holds out this weekend I might make some progress on the body.

Fast isn't on the cards - with the 2 litre twin cam turbo? Have you driven it in the wet to know how much difference there is between the old single cam and carby engine? This thing would hammer... :P

You're certainly right, it's a lot faster than my stock 76 sedan, but it's not as fast as most other 4g63 cars i've built.

in the wet it seems to stay pretty straight under throttle, the 225/50's on the 15x10's in the back help with that.

I bought this car in california and drove it across the country with the old 2 liter carb'd engine, the secondary on the carb was stuck shut so i drove it through the mountains on a 1 barrel carb

I plan to drive it back to long beach california next year for the japanese classic car show, assuming i can get time off work, they never seem to understand when i say 'i want to take a 2000 mile road trip in an old scrap heap'

here's my other car, the girlfriend drives this one in the summer, i drive it sometimes.

Driving through mountains with a jammed secondary would've been 'leisurely'. Some people aren't going to get it when it comes to old school small cars, which is sad. There is a lot going for them if you're looking for something different, cheap to run and easy to drive. And nearly always some guy will slow down and check your ride out. Anyhoo, you have got some nice toys there! We shall wait in anticipation with your next offerings

Well, flares and chin spoiler / duckbill mounted, went out to take pictures but none of them turned out. Here's what I got;

More shitty pictures, I dunno what is up with my lack of ability lately. Probably just too cold to be standing outside setting up a shot.

Just curious, how much steering lock do you have? My 16x8 +10's rub on my firewall before full lock, and the 13x6 +5 on my green GC wagon rub at full lock on the right front side only.

Have you modified the firewall (with a big hammer)?

yeah it rubs before full lock and will just get worse when I lower it. I'll fix it with a BFH.

Haven't lowered it yet, but went out in search of an abandoned military base from the 30s or 40s, found it. The place was really creepy and took up about 2500 acres.

Awesome car, so glad you lost the roof rack. Just the altitude problem to sort and I think she'd be perfection.

Love the new pics.
Besides the matte black paint I think twin exhausts poking out through the bumper mounts would top it off perfectly :P

Nope, everything there. Split dash - check, cracked sun visors - check, hole in the dash for the stereo - check, the 'what the...' look from GF, check.
