S3 Nissan Bluebird TRX, yes a Datsun! :)
Hi everyone,
Its been awhile since I have posted on here so heres an update of what Ive been up to! Heres my S3 Bluebird which I purchased recently as a weekender. Everything in this car is factory original. Its been sitting for awhile since I found it and ever since it was in my possession, I have given it an all round service and tune up with some minor upgrades.
Ive refreshed a lot of the electricals so its pretty flawless, anything worn out or deteriorated from age had been replaced and everything works as it should, including the rear headphone system!
Yes its not a mitsubishi, but it certainly is in the same league being a sigma GSR rival! Im wouldnt mind an sr20/ca18/fj20 swap down the track, but Im happy with the ca20 its got right now haha. Drives perfectly and with a bit of smart tweaking, they can go alright for a weekender. Nonetheless a manual conversion will be done at the end of this year.
Modifications so far:
-ROH Casino polished wheels off my sigma
-custom tinted clear indicators
-custom LED taillight setup
-4300k Phillips CrystalVision headlights
-LED throughout
And just because I can hehe. These wheels are actually for our Cressida

I love the factory head phones, well cool
Over all a nice tidy car and IMHO, much nicer than a GSR

I have to agree with Jason, I much prefer these over the GJ-GN Sigma. Very tidy, headphones are cool, must be a slug with the CA20 auto though, lol

Re: S3 Nissan Bluebird TRX, yes a Nissan :)
Cheers guys
The headphone system is the true definition of retro lol. They werent working before but I worked out the factory wiring and sourced a factory loom to fix it. Not many bluebirds had rear headphones and most of them dont work as the wiring was super weird from factory. The headphones work by shutting off the rear speakers, so using the fader/balancer, if you fade it to the rear, you will only have music coming out of your headphones.
The ca20 isnt a go fast engine at all haha, its really slow from factory due to the ridiculously restrictive intake system and emissions gear, let alone shutting off 4 spark plugs after 4k rpm (these engines are twin spark). Although I can make a bet when I re-wire the ignition system, remove the missions gear and upgrade the intake system, I will gain at least 5kw and a wealth of response!

OMG I have not seen one that straight for nearly 10 years! They were so common once but they've gone down the path of near extinction. Awesome find SIKMA, back to the 80's!

Woah! The only Bluebirds I see getting around these days are usually clapped out olive green ones that have more bog and primer than OEM paint.
That thing is unbelievably tidy!
I have seen a VG30 V6 in one of these, no idea what sort of work that would involve though. Would make a nice sleeper cruiser/bruiser.

Re: S3 Nissan Bluebird TRX, yes a Datsun! :)
Damn right! I hardly see any on the roads, but if I ever see one, its near the end of its life. Id say because these were not particularly a durable car in some aspects. The S1 and S2 (mines a S3) diffs were real weak, probably the cause of many bluebirds being scrapped as the owner couldnt afford to pay for repairs in a non car enthusiasts perspective. The S3s had a 10 bolt diff, a lot stronger and can take a bit of abuse, sort of like how we sigma guys swap scorp diffs in lol. Bluebirds love rust, so thats probably nuff said.Woah! Theres a few vg30det ones about, im presuming its a red import SSS sedan? Im not quite sure whats really involved in the swap myself as its not quite my cup of tea but it definitely looks like a monster!
Mine runs a CA20S motor, not a good performance motor, so Im planning to build a highly worked L20B for it down the track or swap in a 13B bridgy if it doesnt require any bodily modifications. Gotta love carbies!

No fuel injection for this beast! After owning the canary sigma with that crazy 4g54, I cant steer away from the sound of twin carbs screaming!
