Old School FTO in OZ
Old School FTO in OZ
Hi All
Yes there is one in Perth. It is a 1973 Galant FTO Coupe GS-R MR and i'ved owned it for about 7 years.
Of which 5 where restoring it.AS they say good things take time
She's fun to drive and draws WTF looks where ever we go.
I love my J-Tin and also have a 1972 Crown coupe with lexus V8,pristine Datsun 180b(dont laugh)and a Ke55 Corolla PRC rally car
As you can see I'm not brand specific on what i like just as long as it's nostalgic
I've had interest from fellow sigma-galanters to post so here she is
regards Darren

Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Thanks Dave.
When it was imported into Perth in the mid nineties it had the 4g32 dohc fitted.
I'm the cars 4th owner in OZ and the other guys had no idea how rare it was.
It does have a stroker crank out of a nimbus fitted.

I want to go down on you and make you really happy, then i want to come back up slowly and fuck you real good, yours sincerely Petrol prices.
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Wow, nice!
I may have seen your crown coupe around a few times though not recently- is it silver?
I really dig 70s J-tin too. I think a '73-75 Corona Mk II coupe (one of my faves from that era) would look ace in your collection.
ahem.. but anyway- back to the mitsu'!

Re: Old School FTO in OZ
I F&%KIN LOVE THIS CAR!!!
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
So that is the one with the twin cam motor. That is a fantastic piece of machinery.
I saw one for sale on a Japanese car yards website last year. It was going fairly cheap compared with all the other cars they had for sale. I think it worked out to be around $7000. wish I could find the site again. They only sold nostalgic cars, including a few 1970's Datsun Skyline GTR's, and had a really good collection of other stuff as well.

That is a great looking rare car with an even rarer engine. Well done on the build mate, it looks fantastic
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Very nice!
Haven't seen one in front of my eyes.
Looks to be much smaller than a GTO.

Thanks guys
Yes it is very short In wheel base and you can see the rear spring hanger in first photo right at rear of car.
It is so short that in motorkhana rules i would have to compete against minis, not corollas and escorts.
This FTO on YAHOO japan might be the one for sale
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... gle.com.au
And yes my Crown is silver and have only owned it fo about 9 months
All my J-TIN

I don't think it is actually. If I remember correctly the one I saw had a factory front spoiler with Watanabes.

Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Am I reading that right? Is that FTO on Yahoo! Auctions 88.0 million yen? That is around AU$1.131 million!
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Love everything but the wheels-you need some deep dish rims on that baby. Awesome car-I want it.
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
It's not million; if you hover your mouse over the 88 million it gives the original japanese text ; there are two characters the last one means yen the first one mean 0000. so 880000 yen or abt 11k. -Much better than a million bucks!
Re: Old School FTO in OZ
You don't mean deep dish like this do you...?Love everything but the wheels-you need some deep dish rims on that baby. Awesome car-I want it.

Hey Darren,
saw your pics a while back on Classic Colt - very nice FTO Surely there can't be many of these here??
Were the flares on it when you bought it or did you source them yourself? If so, and you don't mind me asking, where from as I'd be keen for a couple of sets.
They look slightly wider than the fibreglass GTO ones from NZ.
Cheers, S

Re: Old School FTO in OZ
Thanks for the reply Darren,
I've ordered a set of those ones myself (should have them this coming week) and also a set from NZ, so will be interesting to see how different they are.
I love watching this Youtube vid of the FTO in that bitumen motorkhana - the guy's only an average steerer but it sounds awesome!!!!http://youtu.be/DNbOz6wydWc
