I am becoming concerned that the engine is taking over and this nice Galant will turn into a VR Commodore!
Bride seats and Nardi steering wheel sounds more AE86 then Commodore to me

Sorry, I've been a bit slack with pics for this. I was thinking I needed to update with some pics
Work has been progressing, although slowly.
The door mechs are all back together (windows in and winding), a couple of panels are cut back and buffed up.
Fish Oil has started to be applied (as you do with this type of thing), this is not just a respray, it's more of a preservation.
A new windscreen was supposed to be installed on Thursday, but a new windscreen rubber and the stainless strips have created a problem for the installers, so the rubber has gone back to their workshop so the stainless strips can be installed there. The installer thinks it will take 6 people to install the strips. I had a quick go at pre installing the strips for them, but because the new rubber is so soft, I was struggling on my own to hold them in there. I was hoping they would know a better method? But seems I was wrong

I'll see what I can do about updating some pics for those who are interested...

Door lock re installed. Dipped and cleaned so they look 34 years younger.

Rear guard cut and buffed, but not waxed yet.

Hope this is enough to keep you going 81GL?
More to come soon, I hope?

I'll take that...
Thankyou.

Also: 77galantv6 has been helping me through the job (don't know if I've mentioned this before?), he's been doing some of the detail (read time consuming) jobs for me. He's been a great help, and I have to give it to him, you don't need to give the same instruction twice. He spent the time on the door mechs, dipping them in petrol, and giving them the tooth brush treatment. He is also the one that spent the time rubbing out the inside of the doors so that they came up with the 'I've just come out of the Factory' look. He's been the perfect apprentice, and I would give him a job any day of the week. Anyone who has patience and an eye for detail can achieve what has gone on here so far in this paint job. With a little bit of experience and the right tools, you too can end up with what we have in the pics above. All it takes is time. Approx 25 days put into this so far

thought i should update this...

new windscreen got put in today (without the tint on top)
apparently the last time the supplier had sold a Galant screen was 1997

i've been flat out at work and been away for the weekends so haven't been able to do
any more of the fiddly things (detailed stuff), i have the next 2 weekends off
and Dave has one off so i may be able to drop round and muck about with it a bit more.

I've promised Dave that i'll take his son to his formal this year so should have it all done for then!

It's true.
The paint work is done (a couple of small things to do, but the car was picked up from my place on Friday night).
I've been a bit slack uploading pics (been to busy working on it and doing O/T at work as well).
Anyway, here are some more progress pics from where I left off.

last night a photographer friend of mine did a photo shoot of my car and has sent me a few teaser pics
until i go and pick up the disc with all the full resolution photos on it.

the car is now nearly complete, all that is to be done is a touch up on the boot and mirrors and then
I'm getting the bumpers straightened and re-chromed.

like all things though, its a constant work in progress....

hopefully these shots may inspire some members to get stuck in on their projects and get them done.

enjoy

Nice Pics

You've put some work in to get it all the rest of it back together. Looks awesome as always, and some really nice detailing as always too.

How did you go getting the badge retainers? Have any problems?
