Sadly it's true, I would not be able to register my car with a carby-fed 6G72... So I'm now thinking of going the MPFi route but making a modified upper intake manifold that looks like a 4 barrel carby so I can then fit a chrome old-school air filter. I might even use one of these Edelbrock four barrel throttle bodies:

Re: V6 Scorpion
So did dirtygalant ever finish this engine swap? Which transmission ended up in the car, Toyota or Mitsubishi Triton?

Re: V6 Scorpion
No dirtygalant decided to go travelling and ended up in London UK. I sold off all my cars (including a second Scorpion turbo) apart from this Eterna, and my beloved E39A Galant VR-4 Evolution.
I ended up pulling the 6G72 back out and putting a DASH 3x2 4G63 donated from a JDM Starion GSR-V parts car back in the hole in order to get it moving to transport it to my parents house a few hours away for storage. One day when (if??) I return I'll get back into it.
While doing a short stint living in Australia, I discovered picking up a Commodore T56 would be fairly cheap and Bill Hincher can supposedly make up a 6G to T56 bellhousing given he's done other engines to T56. I've also decided to drop the 6G72 and find a 6G74 MIVEC from a Pajero Evolution to gain a factory RWD water pump/routing setup and a more ideal rod/stroke ratio. An extra 500cc of capacity certainly would help too!
