It is an interesting build number, it is also the correct number stamped on the strut tower documented on the rego papers as number 501 it is all original but the motor. When I get home from work I will upload a pic of the number on the strut tower.

Not sure about the turbo and wastegate as I haven't seen the car yet I live in Malaysia and my brother did all the inspecting and buying on behalf of me.

Never seen a GH with a 16 digit vin number before, every GH I have owned has had a 15 digit vin

Definitely something going on with that vin
SigmaTurbo.com show an example of a normal vin http://www.sigmaturbo.com/sigmaturbo_010.htm
Even my Mitsubishi factory workshop manual vin decoder shows a 15 digit vin

BE CAREFUL SOMETHING ISNT RIGHT !

Also, here is the VIN on number 500

http://www.sigmaturbo.com/sigmaturbo067002.jpg

How to decode the VIN from the Factory service manual. I have only ever seen the body number with 5 digits, and it appears that the last number 1 has a slightly longer angle bit on top compared to the one in the middle. I would say you actually have number 50, and someone has added the extra 1 on the end to change the VIN number.

Actually, that has 6 digits as well. Although I still stand by my comments that the 1 looks different.

The registration papers state the same Vin number stamped on the car.
Other then the Vin how can I double check?

Who cares....they've OK'd the VIN number...they see it as acceptable and legit....leave it at that

Its also on the alloy plate attached to the firewall, and if the car has the factory dash it will be written on the back of the dash centre section (bit where radio goes)
