My 'new' 1982 GJ Sigma.

Post by KidOnion1 »

Hey everyone, I have recently acquired a GJ Sigma, I paid a $1000 but I think that really is worth it. From what I've seen this is the average going price and it already has a 5 speed manual conversion, new-ish interior, stereo; kind of and extractors (4-1) 8-)
My plans for it are to just get a few things done to it, nothing major as of yet. But first things first, it needs a really good clean and detail inside and out. The paint on it is REALLY good although the bonnet and passanger rear door has some rust on it  But the old man is a panel beater so shouldn't be too hard to fix up.
Recommendations would be really helpful on what to do to,I don't have endless amounts of money but do have a bit to play with. (apprentice wages :P )
In this thread I'm just going to be posting various pictures of stuff I upgrade as the weekends go past either for your viewing pleasure or as education if need be. Take how you like and I hope you enjoy.

Attatched is an Imgur Album of my car, engine pics will come soon. (H)

Greets to you KidOnion1, welcome to S-G. Is this your first car? Good to see you're not following the herd and chosen sumpin' different. What's the bigger plan? You can get a fair bit done on a tight budget if you're prepared to take a spanner to it yourself. The great thing about early Mitsu's is being able to play musical parts. If you're after ideas or tech help use the search function http://www.sigma-galant.com/search.php it is your friend

RyBj yeah that's all I am planning on doing, just casual part upgrades and replacements for a nice daily driver then start adding some of the more fun stuff.. it's already got brand new (month old) suspension -front and rears- so should be good to go as soon as I fix up fuel lines.  and in reply to earlier, I am from Perth mate, how about yourself?

Bruggz351 yours looks real tidy mate, good to see another GJ for inspiration. "I want mine to look that good"

hey guys! just thought I'd show what I've done (or lack of) to the siggy!

cleaned the wheels ( still need another going over with a fine abrasive and then some polish but haven't had the time!
(tried) to put "new" seats in but didn't fit (sat too high, my head was hurting after a while I assume they were out of a wagon or something because they sat a lot higher on the rails than the ones I had in her previously, but were a lot more comfortable compared to the plastic/leather/pvc/shit that are in it at the moment  .
tidied up the stereo wiring, changed rocker cover gasket, all the fluids drained and changed, two new rear tyres and all that is left is to fix the rusty bonnet/passenger door and she'll be perfect!
and then it will be onto engine mods (H) (H) (H) (H)

http://tinypic.com/r/fycsia/8 - before
http://tinypic.com/r/2jbjdom/8 - old seats
http://tinypic.com/r/mhxc05/8 new seats that don't fit ( properly )
http://tinypic.com/r/2d7cw0z/8 -the sigma

cheers, :)
