I bought a bus

Post by A112H »

Needs some love but is straight and rust free.
Fresh paint and some interior upgrades and it will be sweet

The most expensive car I've ever bought was a 1984 Mitsubishi... in 2014.

I did buy a actual bus, lol. Not sure what you were expecting from the title Mick :P
It is a 1968-70 Bedford Comair. I am totally in love with it, lol. I initially bought it as a "money maker" or "quick sell" as I paid very little for it. But now I am thinking it might be a keeper for a few years and get some enjoyment out of it before moving it on.
Colours will be the same as my hardtop. Nice shiny Mawson White with red stripes, chrome wheels and a decked out interior.
Not sure on running gear as yet, it has an okay straight 6 diesel in it but it seems most of the motorhomes of the era has Ford Clevelands and some have SBC in them running LPG. As I am sure superscan811 can agree, it would be awesome with a Screamin' Jimmy 6-71 running Jakes in it :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o00EpQFUerE
Pleanty of time to think about that yet.

I few years back I remember on youtube a guy made a lift under his bus where he stored the EV (electric car) he made.

I was expecting an L300 or similar lol

Best mate has a mad bus, runs a 460 bbf, the entire rear panel including the floor lowers so you can put a car in the back

Towed the bus to a mates property today so I can start work on it before driving it home to finish.
Two bits of good news came about the bus in the last two days
1. Although mod plated to Qld it was last registered in SA. Has got no plates but I managed to make out the old plate from the dirt/markings in the paint so got a permit no probs to tow it. More importantly, now I have these numbers it is over the counter SA rego

2. As we drove slowly up my friends driveway I decided to slip the bus into 4th and gently ease the clutch out, to check if the engine would turn over. It was parked for about 6 years and had no battery so we really had no idea about it mechanically. Much to my surprise the bloody thing fired up on the 6yo diesel, lol. I pushed the clutch in right away and it sat there idling until it ran out of fuel

I could not be happier this evening :D
