79_lancers new 79 lancer

Post by 79_lancer »

Hi all!
Just picked up my latest toy lant night. It's all original body in fairly good condition ( a little bit of rust in the usual spots ) it has a mild 2ltr with extractors and 5speed and racing seats up front. Other than that, it's all original. It even has the original radio and un touched center console!

Can't wait for the next adelaide cruise!
Also picked up one for my mate ( who I'll be getting to join the forum :) )
Here are some pics of the beautie!

Looks neat mate

Why did lancers get all the fancy stuff? Pin striping, gauges, cloth seats...

What's the plans for her?

Sweet! Love the Arrow-decal on the hood! Was thinking about putting one of those on my Celeste but finding one is a pretty hard in Europe :s If you can have a copy made... :p

Hi 79_lancer, welcome to S-G. It has been a long time since I've seen this Lancer driving around and it is a beauty! Good find. There are still a few good Lancer hatches cruising around Adelaide, but like all Mitsus of this era they are hard to find in this condition...

It's great to drive. All the bushes have been done with nolothane and handles like a dream. It's far from perfect, but the originality is what I love about it. This makes the 3rd LC for me to have owned :) they are hard to find in good nic tho :)

When I get around to fixing rust and paint, I'll see about trying to get the decals replicated. I'll get back to you if I go down that path :) mite get a few kits made and sell them to others on here who want them too :)

Dude, if you ever get the bonnet arrow made up, pm me. I've already got an Adobe Illustrator file made up for the side stripes if anyone wants to get some stripes cut.
Big job putting them on :-)

It shouldn't be that bad. I do signs as part of my job, if I was putting those on, I'd pre-mark out registration lines and spray everything with water so things don't actually stick until I want them to. For someone who hasn't done it before or only plays with little stuff it would be more difficult, but like everything preparation makes life a lot easier.
