Here was my first Sigma. Was a Wherret special painted candy apple red and ran a hot 2.6 with twin 45 webbers and direct post nitrous. Took the running gear out and sold the body to a guy I worked with who did not look after it at all. I bought it back some years later absolutely f**ked four ways from sunday. Didnt have one straight panel on it and the paint was severly faded it had to be crushed.
Did you or one of your mates buy it back off me after I got rid of it? I honestly can't remember what I did with it. I bought it for $50 - poor thing was not the same car as in your pics and i wonder how many hands it went through before I got it. Here is a photo when it was out the front of my place.
I don't think I've ever told you this but I only ever saw your car once in it's prime. Mate Chris ( turbo scorp ) had a small fishing boat and we were chilling off Christies one hot summer day and saw this amazing thing come over the rise on the bluff, heading towards Beach Road. It was your siggy and even from out on the water the sun was reflecting crazily off the paint and I swore it was the best Siggy i would ever see

Re: Past rides
I needed another car whilst my baby waited to learn of her fate, so I bought this as a daily driver, which I've been slowly upgrading. Will keep it with an A12 in it, but will be eventually bored out to 1380 and supercharged, after all the other bits I've acumilated have been put in - ie disk brake fronts with brake booster, lol.
I also drive around in an old landrover, the only pic of Hannah, I can find is my taking a photo of another's pretty neat gsr sigma in brighton through the drivers window, (yes it's named after the 6 yr old girl that drove it backwards out of the garage and down an extremely steep 200m slope into a tree stump - as they sold it to me after that).

Don't try to insure a 1984 Galant Turbo 2000 with RACV, they'll insist that it only came out with a super charger, and that the turbo is an illegal mod........
Re: Past rides
I have been there and done that with 1200's. Don't keep the A12, they are a waste of money. Go straight for an A14, they bolt in with adapter plates for the engine mounts (same kit as used to fit a 120Y A12). Then you just have to re-route and lengthen your alternator wiring.Lowmion wrote:Will keep it with an A12 in it, but will be eventually bored out to 1380 and supercharged
You can bolt A12 heads on an A14 and it increases compression to about 10 to 1 (mine had 11 to 1). Obviously for a supercharger, this isn't the way you want to go, but if you decide to go the other way and keep the 1200, source a 1400 head and you compression should be good for a supercharger or turbo. The 1400 heads have larger intake ports then a 1200 too.
Datsun 1200's are weak, 'VERY' weak. That is why I now own Mitsubishi's.
Be prepared, very prepared to break the rest of your drivetrain. I broke 9 gearboxes, 4 diffs, snapped the tailshaft yoke and snapped an engine mount (all 4 in 1 go one night).
Mine was a Datsun 1200 Coupe with A14, A12 head and standard carby. It used to flog 4.1 ltr Falcons, and 5.0 Ltr Commodores like they were nothing.
I fitted an import A14 5 speed and solved the gearbox problem, but that was when the diffs started to break. (The Datsun never broke anything while it was running the stock 1200 motor).
The body cracked in the end, so I gave up.
I sold the 1200 coupe and bought an LB Lancer hatch. All it broke in the next 2 years was a fan belt and the accelerator mount. That was it.

Re: Past rides
ok maybe I'll keep the Datsun stock(ish) - it's good to be able to get 550kms outa a standard a12 4 speed with a 40litre tank, and still look good doing it, lol
So......
I was actually thinking of taking the engine and running gear (4 speed factory auto, 4 wheel disk brakes, IRS), outa the galant as well as most of the other goodies and putting it into this
That though will only happen though if Flav, (aka Zoom Tuning), manages to prove in VCAT that he wasn't responsible for the fire that almost killed me, and unfortunately that is highly unlikely, but I suppose you'ld call it a win win situation?
But before you flame me for cannibalising a iconic car consider the following......
You see even though I love the '84 Galant Turbo 2000, and yes it's still perfect from the firewall back, (very comfy, turbo mono-grammed factory cloth seats, electric everything b4 this and the rear seat back is adjustable as well in pitch), my female friends will never get in it again, as they saw and helped me deal with the burns on my hands and face.
I myself will never be able to enjoy it as I'll anticipate the odd sound as a fuel line coming off etc.
The only way to restore it is to buy a front cut from Japan, (are ya listening Genius??? ).
See Flav tryed to change it's wiring (apparently the engine primary and secondary loom's including all sensor's and cpu box's or what ever is under the seats and dash) over to a Ja Starian in the process of 'fixing it' .
When it was taken to be run in the factory auto's o/d didnt work, the interior fan turned on with the head lights, and only the digital speedo worked with the oil warning light constantly on, no dash lights, no stereo, no power windows, no interior lights, nothing.
(he rebuilt and fitted a new motor with a ported head as it turned out that the cause of the problem was a cracked cylinder sleeve, not the primary, secondary or main loom wiring, the cpu's, injectors, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tank or even the turbo or the autodrive plate , I dunno either, and yes I paid because he said they were cactus and he's Flav right and I love my car)
So after explaining to a not so local mitsubishi auto elec what happened, (frankston), he suggested that as obviously there was nothing wrong with the electrics in the first place and that the starian loom was incompatable, I need to buy a front cut, and he'll restore it back to original for a mere $90 an hour, [wiring that is], although he reckons it might take 2 weeks?

Re: Past rides
not many, and one isnt even mine but there are my previous/current rides
UC Torana
Firstly i learnt how to drive in this thing, got it for free and thrashed it around the back paddock of our yard, little 4cyl with a 4 speed, would overheat after 15 minutes and i would just leaver her parked there and go back to it half an hour later and thrash it around again i later sold it to fund my VG, but i sold it for way less than what it was worth, despite the dud 4 banger and a small amount of rust in the rear quaters...... and the ding in the side of the guard, she was immaculate, perfect seats, carpet was... carpet and the body was quite solid.
VG Valiant (current long term project)
After selling my Torana, and always being around my Dad and his vailiants, i ofcourse wanted one and honestly if i had the money would horde them i picked this old girl up for 1200 everything was all good in her besides a rust issue and some terrible brakes, but i insisted to give it a full restoration of which was meant to take 2 years and well i dont think ive laid spanners on it in two years now the plan is now Mercury silver with black trim, 245 to cruise with until i build a nice 265 or V8, dropped on black showheel streeters
VT Commondore (not mine but ive driven it for an extended amount of time)
Whats there to say other than this thing annoyed me so much that i went out and got a galant so i didnt have to drive the pile'o'poop anymore its not all bad, this thing has been everywhere, it was driven out west on a hunting trip where i shot my first pig out of it (while driving it through a paddock) then it started raining and we had to drive it up the 10-20klms of black dirt road before we even got near a normal dirt road let alone a normal road the pictures i have are of the aftermath of that muddy trip back to town
GD Galant (current daily)

Hey Jono, I used to have two VG Valiants as well (no photos unfortunately). Great car. One was white and the other gold.
Did you know thw first 'Charger' was actually tested using the Charger running gear in a VG Valiant Utility? My old man has the photos of Doug Chivas taking around the test track.

Re: Past rides
Way before I heard of galants! had a vk commodore with a 3800 supercharged and a 5 speed! Black with rainbow glitter paint and 19" 5 spoke mags. First paint job I ever done unfortunately no pics my dad crashed it into/under a b-doubles b trailer. No more commo :/ so I bought a Subaru MY wagon with a 5 speed and chrome 15s (same as the stock sunrasia rims but chromed). After that.. Hmmm. A 87 magna elite sedan. 5 speed manual, elec windows, power steering, ac, velour interior, central locking. Etc etc long story short, blew it up! bloody magnas. Next up? My gc! Then my gb, now another galant (ga) and a wrecked L300 parts van

I've owned close to 100 cars in 18 years but never a Valiant. Always liked AP6's.
Re: Past rides
Valiant did alot of stuff like that, the year before when the hemi 6 was in pre production they built a few standard looking VF's of which they road tested the Hemi 6's in, these models are stamped with VFX in the Vin number, they ranged from pacer wagons/sedans to utes ect. im pretty surejvflash wrote:Hey Jono, I used to have two VG Valiants as well (no photos unfortunately). Re: Past rides
PAST MITSUBISHI CARS MY PARENTS HAD
GJ OR GN SIGMA WAGON
the sigma used to belong to my pop. he used it for getting wood from the bush. he later brought a Datsun 720 so he gave it to my dad. at the time my dad drove a tow truck so he hardly used it so my mum sold her Bluebird wagon and started using the siggy. it was 4G54 and auto. it was thilthy but it went ok. one day dad brought home a scorpion that a work mate had rolled. dad scored the scorpion wheels and put them on the sigma. one he did that he gave it w cut and polish on the whole car and he said it looked great. I have a memory of it not wanting to start in Northgate shopping centre one day. it was sold to be replaced with a VC Commodore witch used to be an awesome car
LB LANCER
I do remember the first car I did muck around with was a LB lancer sedan. It was impact or desert orange with a 4G54 but with no gearbox. my dad's friend Dave brought it to get the front panels off it for his LB lancer after it was crashed into by a women running a red light. after Dave got the front panels we wrecked it. well I did. I have memories of filling up the fuel tank with water with the garden hose and then taking the oil cap off and filling that up with water aswell. then later I hacked the dash out with a axe. I did remove the "Lancer" badges off the rear quarters. they were in great condition until my "cousin" broke them in half for a "Joke". later the car departed our driveway. I was 5 when we got the car! Dave Also owned dads Galant.
