I will admit to knowing absolutely nothing about ECU's, but does the Halteck 500 come with a base/get you running tune, straight out of the box??

I think it has a base tune to get you running to the point the car will turn on but besides that i don't think anyone would have a tune to run a EFI turbo astron.

any reason you chose the stock coils instead of high output LS2 coils ?

nope not the high output ls2 coil, high output coils are the delco D585 and have a heat sink on the rear

still hose will do the job well !

I was under the impression that even the standard ls2 coils were capable of providing more than enough spark to susrain the HP ANY astron is capable of producing????

Buying High Output coils would've been just overkill wouldn't it????

Hey SG,

It has been a couple of years since i have given an update as to what is going on with TUFSIG.

Good news is i still have it and still working on it :)
As most of you can relate to life gets int he way sometimes and you just don't touch a project for years but im back at it again as i want this to be in my wedding so back at it again.

I have taken the car out every couple of months for a run but due to the turbo still being dodgey after the rebuild it blows way too much smoke to go far, not to mention that BW 25 dif does not like 200rwkw at all.

It will be going to a fabricator int he next month to get a large of amount of work done including.

New Turbo Manifold to suit Garret GTX turbo
New Dump and full system.
And Haltech ECU install along with LS2 Coils

Once these things are tackled its onto the diff.

I will try to keep the updates coming as it has been way too long.

A quick pic from when it came out of its 9 month slumber.

And a pic of the other Mitsubishi pals

More updates soon

Not sure if you have pulled the car apart yet but if she is still blowing smoke after a turbo rebuild, check the size of the hole in the oil supply fitting. The turbo may be getting too much oil and it forces it past the seals. Check the drain is big enough too. Some turbo's only need 1-2mm for the oil supply but that differs between bush bearing and ball bearing too. Maybe something to check.

I had a turbo oil oversupply issue after fitting a new centre housing that has a much bigger oil inlet feed hole than my previous turbo. It took the same size oil fitting into the top of the CRA , but the previous centre housing had a much smaller stepped down oil supply hole into the centre.
After a bit of on-line searching the problem ,I fitted up a .65 thou restrictor, and problem gone.

Seems you were on the right track, turbo is off the car and it was a combination of some fittings by previous owner and the drain not being able to get the t oil out quick enough.
my Oil pressure sits at around 65psi not sure if that is high or noot.

Im sick of rebuilding old Turbos so looking at a Borg Warner S360.
