Re: 84s 85GN daily driver
I think externally all this car needs now is either having its badging removed....or re-furbed....then it's spot-on IMO

Re: 84s 85GN daily driver
what it needs right now is another diff center and gear box, already went through hell with the diff in january almost breaking my nose on the tow bar getting out from under the piece of shit.

i think the bolts broke whilst removing them.....not from driving abuse

Re: 84s 85GN daily driver
The first pic is of part of the pinion shaft that goes through the middle of the diff centre. It snapped in 2 places while 84GKSIG had to slam on the brakes to avoid some idiot. The second pic is the crown wheel and bolts that came off what looked like a rebuilt/serviced diff centre. It looks like who ever did this work used the bolts to seat the crown wheel onto the diff centre housing, instead of using a press or hammer. It also looks like they over tightened the bolts. They held, but they either stripped or snapped when taking them out. The centre that crown was attached to, that 84 used to replace the broken centre that had the broken shaft, ended up failing fairly quickly too. Pulled apart the centre, and all the gears were worn badly to the point that there was lots of slop, and the gears were moving around in ways they shouldn't have.

last year i had a wanker cut out infront of me while turning right at the intersection - the diff had already been making noise, ended up having to slam on the brakes- i did this while in gear, dont know how it would have affected it but from that moment it began sounding like a train on train tracksOldfart wrote:Yoo bin doen burnouts? Re: 84s 85GN daily driver
thanks mate.
ill take this moment to just remind every one when buying a used car, in particular one which isnt factory fresh, that it is very important to check the components which are designed to stop you safely, your brakes, every car ive bought test drove, the first thing ive always done is check the brakes replace pads replace and or machine rotors and give the brake system a full flush, this car was the first i did not do this with and its bitten me on the ass.
always check your brakes, this is probably common seance. but due to my lapse of concentration last year due to stress, i simply forgot to check then ended up putting it off, its come up before on the forum in the chat and on others threads but it is very important that the one thing thats between you and the road which stops you is functioning 100%
