Sydney to Wollongong cruise in Feb 2010....

Post by 75wagon »

Anyone got any ideas on where to start and finish?
I'm going to have to rely on some local knowledge here.....
The Newie Boys (and girls) are coming so it can't be south of Wollongong (it'll be a long enough day as it is).

ozgdgalants suggested Woronora Dam, it's south of Sydney, but north of Wollongong.

I suppose the aim of the game is to get the Wollongong members to come out to play......

We have to get more than 16 cars this time.....

Look at the pics from the Sydney Cruise from the 6th. Members are getting out and putting in the effort. It's worth it. Now we've got ffiona (ffire) on board some awesome pics to remember the day by too. Bring 'em out of the sheds, finish 'em off, whatever. Let's show 'em what we've got.

So suggestions is what I'm after... I need help. If you don't like Woronora Dam, come up with a better one. I'll be listening....

Dave.

I was originally thinking the Bulli pass to meet. and Kiama isn't really that far for the Newie boys... But that's just me saying that. I'd need to know if they're keen.

How many southern people would come out to play if it was down this way?

If the answer is none, then we might as well stay closer to Sydney.

Speak up, if you don't it may not be in your backyard....

That's the way it was last time....
Fact is, I loved every minute of yesterday, and have the sunburn to prove it (and when you are starting to go bald, that ain't real comfortable).

But really. this one is going to take some work. I'm out of my area, and I'm going to need a lot of help.

So the more time the better.

Hope the SA cruise goes well.

Good luck man

Dave...

Don't forget the pics....

Here's a thought GC75.
What is the chances of finding a spot with either good flat tar or concrete. Just found out yesterday that a few of the boys (and me) are into RC Drifting.... Could make for a bit of a laugh.

I'll bring my EVO6 drift pig along.

Just a thought. Has anyone else got one?

(H) Kiama on the weekend is packed! Totally no parking and if the markets are on you have no hope. There is a new sky look out and a great road to drive down through from the Southern High lands, past jamberoo to Albion Park, with beautiful views, and you can travel along the coastal road through Wollongong up through over the new bridge and through the national Park ( tell the ranger your travelling through and you wont be charged) If we decide to stop it is a fee and there is some gorgeous spots to stop too. To start with you would have to travel down as far as the Southern Highlands, down the Freeway, I can google the maps. Your brakes would have to be in the best condition for the hill decent, single lane road but hell of ride. Stop at Wollongong Light house for some more shots.

Just a thought. Travelled the raods for cruising so many times and think it would be an awesome trip. What do you think guys

yeah cool drive to skywalk lookout but walk itself is lame and expensive
McQuarrie pass is not to bad, could stop in at Robertson pie shop and maybe Carrington falls

I have no idea where these places are...
But if there is some agreement here, then this might be the go.
I need times and distances (I will google maps this).

What I need.....
Need to rough out a plan.
Need to allow plenty of time for ffiona with pics and book her for the day.
Start point?
Finish point?
Meet time? (just for the main group, everyone else will sort themselves out)
Stop breaks for photographers to get ahead and regroup.....

Then how many will come?

Give me the info and I'll start the cruise link......

well i guess we could meet up somewhere like Heathcote Waterfall on the Princess hwy?? then cruise to the gong via Mckell av, Lady Wakehurst drive, we go through many small sea side towns like Otford Stanwell Scarborough and through to the gong, hang out at flagstaff hill (always modded cars there)

Then head to McQuarrie pass along the Illawarra Hwy to Robertson pie shop and maybe to Carrington falls, Now for those that came from the north you can either go back down the pass or on through along the Illawarra Hwy to the Hume hwy

would be nice if it were a cruise/camp

I like the Wollongong lighthouse area. I've been there before (at night). That's perfect
How about Heathcote Maccas for a start point?
Other then that all here is good

Ok, the cruise camp idea.... Where? I like the idea of being able to sit around, talk shit, and get pissed (or drink sensibly in moderation...)
My wife and kids are going to come on this one, (or at least my wife anyway).

Can we get some other opinions?

How many would consider coming? (not after definite numbers, just an interest in coming will do)

Heathcote Maccas is good, not much room though

Making it an over nighter kinda relaxes the experience , but its not for everyone lol

anyone know of any good camping grounds around the areas mentioned thats big enough for a barrage of three-diamond fans ??

I was thinking either sleep in the back of the wagon, or buy a $50 tent from Kmart for the night. I'm not really a camper, but for 1 night would a cheap tent would be fine (weather permitting of course).
I suppose the other option for accomodation is, does anyone from down that way have a backyard a few of us could set up tents and crash for the night. We would provide beer of course

Like? Put a few different ideas up and get others to give us some feedback.

I like the Idea of being at Wollongong lighthouse, if there are other cars and thing that hang around there? (not to get hassled by the cops, just to show other car enthusiasts that there is an active interest in these cars).

Other than that I'm not fussed. But It will be a long drive for the Newcastle members, that's why I was thinking of a stop over. I believe Guylant from Port Macquarie may be interested in coming (so I don't want to hear any complaining about how far it is from anyone that is coming a shorter distance).
I'll give Guylant one thing, he's keen
