stock tacho into non tacho model GC

Post by shuggy »

hey guys im thinkin if im postponing this coupe i might stick the tacho dash in my sedan, i know the multi pin plug in the back of the dash has the provision for the tacho, but if im pluggin in the plug on my GC that doesnt have the tacho, is there a wire in the harness that goes to the coil or do i have to get one installed?
will i have to put a resistor on the coil too like the big ceramic one my coupe had?

in your wires coming from the coil, there "should" be a GREEN wire, thats looped over, and connected to nothing
you might have to pull a little of the black tape off the harness to find it, but it should be easily spotted...

that one goes to NEG coil, and the tacho dash "should" work

On the Tacho itself, there are 3 wires, Black, White and Yellow with a green stripe.
Which wire goes where on the dash cluster (I don't want to stuff it)?

I love this site.
You ask a question and someone generally gives you an answer. Ask for an opinion and you generally get several.
Where else would you get where the wires go on the back of the dash of a Galant?
It's taken me 4 1/2 years to find one and there is no way I was gambling on how to hook it up.
The workshop manual shows the wiring diagram, but doesn't tell you where the connections are made on the circuit on the back of the dash. I could have guessed I suppose. But I now have the most treasured part of my car installed. And it works, thanks to you guys on this site.
I am eternally grateful...
Thanks also to RotaFreak who agreed to split his car for me so I could have one. I was more than willing to exchange a clock in the transaction.

Dave.
