Im just about to wire up my new electronic fuel pumps
A lift pump and Main pump
And just wondering would it be advisable to run both pumps off the same wiring loom
E.g One Fuse (has a 25 amp atm, would this be suitable?)
One relay
And just piggy back the Lift pump off the main pump wiring??
Which is the way it was set up before...
Or would i get a voltage drop that would effect the pumps, so should i have seperate fuses and wiring for each pump??
Thanks

Re: Wiring up Fuel Pumps?
what's the current draw on a fuel pump?
couldn't be too much surely.
Run a larger wire to carry more amps, but run a separate fuse to each.
If your worried about it maybe run a relay in the loom with the switching positive straight from the battery.

I don't think it would matter, but maybe ask an auto electrician to be sure.Or would i get a voltage drop that would effect the pumps, so should i have seperate fuses and wiring for each pump??

Re: Wiring up Fuel Pumps?
Thanks 75Wagon.
Ok atm it has a large positve power lead, into a 25 amp fuse.
A relay activated from the computer.
A lift pump (its an older one but works no worries and couldnt read the Brand and type, or Amp draw or anything like that.
and a brand new Bosch 044 Main pump
Just to get it going for now i have large wiring to Main pump, and then i have done the piggy back off its power supply to the Lift pump as i think it should draw much less power, and shouldnt effect the main pump too greatly...??
The only thing i didnt do was have a seperate fuse to the Lift pump!
So i will be going down now to correct that.
Cheers 75Wagon!!!

Re: Wiring up Fuel Pumps?
So i have a 25 amp fuse for power off the Batt, to the relay.
And then i have put in a 10amp fuse for the Lift pump
are those fuses ok??
Should i have another fuse just for the main pump, or will the fuse off battery be sufficient to take care of it?

don't see why that would be a problem... sounds fine
