Microtech LT-8

Post by 81GL »

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has had much to do with an LT-8?

Reason i ask... have been offered one at a fairly decent price, but it has come from a totally different vehicle, (laser TX3 for what its worth).
I've heard conflicting things (as you always do lol) about microtechs and their compatibility issues?
So would it be worth the F' around, or should i just carry on as i was & get a shinney one (been looking at an E8)

Cheers,
Nick.

i had an lt10s on my 4g54, the main reason i got a microtech was coz thats all i could afford at the time and a mate is well known tuner of them. but it never seemed to be 100%(dont know if it was the computer or the tuner(he is a rotary and turbo 6cyl guru)) but i've sold it on and going to do it properly this time, once my engine comes back its motec time. imo microtechs seem to be the goods with rotors, maybe not so much with 4cyl engines. at the end of the day it comes down to who u have tuning it. if they know microtechs well, then go for it.

in the form of compatability, u will have to send the computer back to microtech and they will change the base tune to whatever engine u desire then send it back and u tune it from there. thats one downfall of microtechs, u cant just upload a new tune for a different engine to it.

hope this helps a bit.

I had a microtech on my vs was a v6 4.2 stroker turbo and as slideshow said it was never running 100% either i got it tuned by leading edge in petersham who are apparantly a microtech specialist so im not sure if it was the computer or the tuner.

Go new what you will spend on having it matched to ur car will prbly be close to total of buying a new 1.

Add to that - a re-configure cost $400.

The other option is to run all the sensors from the engine it came off - water / temp easy - crank / cam trigger, may be a bit of stuf'n around.

Cheers for the replies guys...

Yeah, after some more thinking have shied away from the idea of it; too much hassle, and the cost of a new unit, its not worth it.

mine came with the LT8 in it.
Im not impressed with the cold starts...
But ive never had much to do with computers prior to this.

except another Microtech, MTX 8(I think) in a mates rotor,
and he has had alot of stuffing about......

Everyone seems to have a different preference and will bag out other brands depending on what they have used, or what their local tuner specializes in and wants to tell them to sell them a unit.

I have a LT10s on my astron. No problems with cruise, Wide Open Throttle or cold starts.
Makes 200kw atw on 18psi stock t03. B4 tune used to splutter on cruise, VERY heavy on fuel etc.
It all depends on who tunes your car. Honestly, most of the guys tuning cars don't give two
s#!ts about sigma's and probably think, "It's making 100kws what do ya want?" He'll tell you to piss off cos there's 3 200sx ricers that he can tune with his eyes closed, and charge $300.

Any aftermarket ECU is fine, provided it is tuned correctly.

Got mine tuned at Maztech.
Yeah 200kw is about the limit with my cam and turbo setup.
Microtech have a "Matrix" tune option that allows fine tuning. That is why you can get your car tuned for $150 or $300+.

TUFSIG, what cam, turbo and injectors are you using?

Also at what rpm were you getting you peak power?
Cheers
