advice with air compressor?

Post by Chrislb »

I'm thinking about buying an air compressor for priming/spray putty on my car (maybe sandblasting)?
I'll get the top coat done professionally.
Finding lots of contradicting information while i'm searching the net.
So my question is what kind of specs do i need?
Looking like 2.5 hp is the way to go? 40L tank?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

Check the air output rate, I have a little 2hp 24l tank and it does the little jobs like spray a guard or door, sand-blasting in short bursts ok. But when it comes to the big
jobs I fire up the 18cfm compressor.

I have a twin piston 15 cfm I've painted a few cars quite successfully with. It runs air tools well also.
