LB/LC hatch mod

Is it possible to cut and weld LC hinges onto an LB hatch so it fits the LC?
The LB hatch looks to physically fit the LC but the hinges are different.

From what I have seen the hatches are physically a different size. LB hatch is smaller. If you look at pics of the rear hatches, on LC the hatch goes most of the way to either side of the car, where as LB there is more metal between hatch and edge of the car.
Thats just from my observations, measuring them might provide a different.

That's what I thought too?
But to tell the truth, I have never tried on hatch in the other?
