Prevent me from doing something stupid
So, I need to lower the front of my wagon, back is low, front is too high.
rather and just cutting springs, which im about to resort to, what are my options? I'm in America, so I might be limited. I'm also pretty cheap I'm willing to use ebay coil over sleeves, im sure they'll likely be stiff. So, any helpful info for parts for the front of my 73 Galant wagon, currently sporting a 4G63T would be massively appreciated.

King Springs, they will ship them at a reasonable rate. Not sure of anything local to you but I am sure there must be a spring manufacturer not too far away that can make them to order?

71-77 GALANT GA-GD, Super low fronts, part # KDRL-83
I am running custom king springs in the front of mine with my coil overs and they work really well.

Please share more information about the coil overs you have, what are they, or the pieces, from?

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
I actually bought them pre made but they are just stock GH Sigma struts fitted with a sleeve kit.
If I were you I would be looking at Conquest struts, you will get bigger brakes too, and one of the ebay sleeve kits.
I am running 250lb springs and they are about perfect for hard street use
$50

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
I'm sure I am right, but don't Starion/Conquest struts bolt in?
The plus side would be that you get a brake upgrade, but the downside is, it would narrow up your front track.
Strut offset differences
Hope this helps?

Starquests do bolt up, just need their 2 bolt steering knuckle, there's also the option of Corolla parts too as they share the same setup as Starquests, GH Siggies as far as Strut setups go and there is more aftermarket out there for them than Mitsu stuff.

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
Ive got 30mm king.spring lows in the front of my gd with a coil cut off.. It only has about 15-20mm travel before hittingbthw bump stops,.it hits them all the time and rides uncomfortably, dont do it, the stock strut tubes are too short for lowered springs. My lancer race car has gh struts with camira inserts and shirtened tubes and has good suspensiiton travel still (has otomoto coil over sleeves)

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
Narrower track would be fine by me, bigger brakes too. However it doesnt seem really simple to find conquest hubs, checked ebay and searched the web a little. I'm cool with weld on coil overs I guess, king doesnt have a distributor in america, there's a spring shop local that I can check with for custom springs but that's about as far as I know to go with that. Thanks for the help thus far guys.
Anyone have info on someone using the ground control set up? I'd like to see how they look when welded up.

Big customer of ours (during my PBR days) was Global Parts Source in Michigan. David Collari was the contact point there.......he specialises in brake upgrades mainly, but he may have something in the suspension dept for you. (or at least, a big brake upgrade)

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
I found weld on coil over sleeves, I thought I read what diameter I would need on here, I can go measure, but this is what I've found thus far:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pfi-c320/overview/
wether I need 2in or 2.5in I will sort out before I order, then I just need a springrate of my choice.

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
Depends on what strut you use, Galants use a 51mm strut (as do most 80's Toyotas, so there'll be a metric crapload of decent and not-so-decent replacement inserts available for that size strut), Starion/Conquest are 54mm.

Re: Prevent me from doing something stupid
Hmm, 51mm = 2 inches, so those would work. I'll use what I have, not too concerned with a brake upgrade.
I searched for 51mm weld on coilovers and didn't find much geared at toyota's, the lowest spring rate i saw listed was around 300+ lbs. Any links or suggestions when searching?

That's the same thing I posted, except it's $170 more...
Thanks for the effort though, I'll keep looking!

Hi mate, hope you got the suspension setup sorted.
Kind of want to hijack your thread a bit here and ask, where did you get the flares and would they suit sedan?
Would be very interested in a set if they do.
Cheers Matt
