power steering tech

Post by Billsy »

ok.... have converted the scorp from steering box to rack and pinion steering.
can i use the Power steer pump from the box type for the rack and pinion type???

I know its not a common thing. but asuming the flow and pressures are similar it should be fine... but thats what im unsure of.
if anyone knows with any certainty id like to know.

FYI, its a nissan S14 steering rack and thinking of the sigma pump.

Why not use an electric power steering pump off an astra, porsche, mazda 3 etc.........

A lot of the old blokes in datsun rally cars are using suzuki steering columns where the electric motor is fitted to the column from the factory. See link below........

These rob no HP from the engine, like an engine driven pump will.

i thought of that, however ive gone the route and allready fitted the entire S14 subframe and steering rack, so changing that is out if the question.

im going to change the pulley and use the nissan pump i think. its a simple bracket to make and it will all match
