Strut offset differences

Post by 75wagon »

We had a meet up for Go Kart racing recently in Newcastle. While we were here at my place for a BBQ, we decided to do a bit of work for the site and measure the offset of the hub face to the strut on different struts.

GC galant strut 141mm
GH Sigma strut 135mm
GK Scorpion strut 126mm (we assume GK Sigma struts would be the same measurement?)
JA Starion strut 130mm

So what do the measurements mean?
If you have a GC Galant with the standard struts fitted, and your rims sit out to close to your wheel arch on your guards, fit GK Scorpian struts and it will give you an extra 15mm of clearance to your the wheel arch on your guards.

To learn how to measure wheel offsets, read this topic How to measure Wheel offset.

Superscan811 and DanTurboLancer were the ones who actually carried the measurements out, but I know there was a 13 inch mag wheel (without a tyre) used.

The important part is the difference between the struts. All measurements were taken from the hub face back to the strut.
