Same bellhousing pattern as 6G72? Use 2WD Triton autobox.
Heard a rumour that the Pajeros etc used a 4WD version of the Aisin-Warner 4spd found in Cressidas, so maybe an MX73 box with an auto V6 Pajero bellhousing? Don't quote me on that though, because as I said, it's a rumour.

2WD Triton. The manual 'boxes are kinda rare and $$$$ though, and have shit ratios for a non-commercial vehicle anyway.

Bill Hincher makes/is going to make adaptor bellhousings to use a Toyota 5spd (W5x, R154) behind the 6G7x series engines, so there might be that option too.

Well since my old original 2 litre engine is simply not powerful enough, I'm seriously considering fitting a 6G72 with a 350 Holley carby and auto trans. Does anyone know if the 2WD V6 Tritons ever came out with a 2WD auto trans? And do the Pajero and Triton V6 4WD auto transmissions have a bell housing you can unbolt from the trans?

There was no automatic option until 1996 and only in 4cyl RWD or 4 and 6 cyl 4x4. But from 1998 on there was a RWD 6cyl automatic option.
This is a 2000 model

RWD 6G74 will bolt up to any pajero or montero 3.0 and 3.5 auto transmission from the 95-97's, it's an AW4, used in Jeep Cherokees and very easy to convert a 4x4 trans to 2wd using jeep parts (or 2wd montero/pajero) I actually have one sitting in my garage.

At first I considered putting a 6G72/AW4 combo in my wagon but I did not have an extra ECU/wiring harness.
