short shifter ?

has any one had a go at making some spacers up and moving the pivot on a jap 5 speed gear stick to give it a shorter throw ?

Working on one at the moment. Still in progress though. Just need a spacer to raise the mounting bolts a bit higher and somethin to extend the end of the shifter (ball part)
The origional shifter is made of hardened steel. i am going to use a hardened bolt and weld it together. (wish i had a lathe or access to one)

thats what i had in mind for it, the only thing i was thinking a bout was would the shifter hit the spacer if it was made to high ? if ya know what i mean

In short, No (makes sure hole in spacer is the same size as one in the gearbox). The shifter still moves the same at the gearbox end, but the knob end moves less. Guestimatios of movment are only there for example purposes only, i have not worked out how much it will reduce it by,

Just cut the shifter in half and crazy glue the knob on, muahahaha

I used to cut the gear stick in half then drill out the rubber inside it. Then slide the top of the stick up through the bottom. Then u have a shorter stick with the thread.

thats what has been done on my wagon lol, but dont wana have to move my hand so far from the wheel sorta thing, so there for the spacer thing
