4g51 on D50?

Post by IridiumLid »

Hi all

I have here a d50 narrow transmission pulled out of an l200 ute and was wondering if I could bolt it to my 4g51 1850? Currently has a 4 speed attached

Doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there on the 4g51
Cheers

I am fairly positive the 4G51's were narrow block. In Australia we only got the 1850 in a very few of the first Sigma's 1977-1980 these were all 4 speeds. It was deleted from the line up with the introduction of the GH, so it is kinda hard to be sure but I know the A112 and A114 Galants used the same 4spd gearbox for the 1600, 1850 and 2000 so you should be right.
Best bet would be to measure the bolt hole spacing on the box you took out and the one from the D50. Or a good way to cheat is line up the spacer plates from both engines and see if they are a match.

Good advice, thanks. Planning to bring it up to a 5 speed as it is before I put in the 2.0l I have and just tinker with that while its out. Before finally dropping in the (hopefully) worked 2.0l. As opposed to throwing it all in at once :P
