Are these the bushes in the shifting rods?

If you are unable to buy them, do you know anyone with a lathe? Just knock some up out of some sort of plastic.

Make a new connecting rod with some under sized tie rod ends (similar to the tie rod ends used in racing kart steering racks). They come in varying sizes and if you get a pair with left and right hand threads you can adjust the threaded shaft exactly to length when it's installed. If there's some rubber boots available you can pack them in grease to keep the tie rod ends fresh and smooth.
