5 speed gearbox rubber mounts???

Post by Rally_2.6LC »

Hey guys I'm after at least 2 of the rubber gearbox mount that goes in the middle of the gearbox cross member and bolts to the box.
They are both Jap 5 speeds (one narrow one wide if it makes a difference). Wide is going in a LC lancer, narrow into a GC Galant.

Where can I get these from? TJ gave me a part number and he said he got his through Bursons a fair while ago, called them yesterday and they dont do it anymore and the guy is meant to be getting back to me (im doubtful though).

Any help?

Well Matt, the news I heard from my parts supplier (a local guy that seems to be able to get just about anything for me) is they don't make them anymore.

I bet there are still some kicking around on shelves in parts places though.
Maybe the best bet is to just ring around?

Or is the auto mount still available? It is a lot wider with room to drill the holes where they need to be for the 5 speed.

No, wide or narrow, the mounts are the same.

i was sure you can still get them, mackay rubber mounts? the first time i did a 5sp conversion and couldnt get a mount, i cut off the top bit of steel with the bolt holes in it, got some 20mm wide flat bar steel and drilled the mounting holes, submerged the mount in a shallow bucket of water and welded the new bit of steel with the new bolt holes onto it..

To my knowledge, just the 5 speeds are the same.

the name of the company is boonma. Burson auto parts have a boonma book and if you look all three variations of the lc mount are in there. A lot of parts are still available you just need to find someone whos helpful and who wants to help you. the staff training only covers the common denominator, so as our vehicles are outside that common box its hard for them to pick up the other books. just push them. if you still have trouble i'll go to my local Bursons and get the pics and part no's for you.

cheers

looking very different to the rubber mounts I have Scott......

Tried Bursons at Parramatta, not very helpful but will go visit them with this info this week. I got a part number off TJ who bought one from them a while back, but the guy at Bursons wasnt very confident he could get it......maybe I do just need to pester him some more.

the us/starion one is the same as a sigma gearbox mount.
I use these in my Galant's and have just modified the rear cross-member to suit.

called my autopro guy today, says he can get them for my GD no worries, is it the same one? if so i can find the supplier and part number for you, and you can ask your guy? otherwise what is the exact crossmember vs box mount you need? i will ask him and i guarrantee he will find one. My bearings didnt fit so he spent 4 days phoning around looking for the correct set. he had to get a US coupe bearing set with a wagon seal set and match them. He made 20 bucks from the transaction, he is the best bloke ive met yet.

Yes.
shuggy wrote:what is the exact crossmember vs box mount you need?
Lancer Hatches use the same type of mount into the crossmember as Galants.
And wide and Narrow 5 speeds have the same distance between the bolts on the lower rear housing.

So Matt needs the same mount as what you need to put a 5 speed in your Galant Shuggy.

Bursons used to be able to get them but it's been a few years since I have bought one. You can always make a eurothane one with some control arm rubbers if you get stuck.

Whats the difference between the A2613 and A2612??? look the same to me. And they look right for the current one I have as well, the other one looks funny and not like what I currently have.

No idea how to make eurothane one lol. I have recently resorted to buying stuff not making things.

Ok mate, I found them, but there was only 2 in existence. This is the a2612.

I need at least one so if you want the other it cost me 66 bucks at trade. They are a discontinued item number.

I bought a "A2612" 5 speed mount for the Galant hardtop a couple of months ago. Ordered it online and had it delivered to my door in less than a week.
Price was good and postage reasonable - all up was cheaper than local suppliers price (They couldn't find one anyway).
