Tuff auto conversion

Post by S1GMARE »

Has anyone put a strong auto behind a 4g54 narrow block? I know LPGalant has C10, what about turbo 400 etc.
Has to last longer than the time it takes to install it.

Who keeps saying jap 5 speeds are good???

Nuthing wrong with Jap 5 speeds. In my rally Sigma I continually broke the shifter in BW boxes, then converted to Jap & problem solved, cause I'm not that easy on the shifting. ;)
I'm here for a good time, not a long time !

lol well i wouldn't be surprised s1gmare, aren't you running 12 seconds in the 1/4 mile or am i mistaken?

RX22NV would probably be the bloke to talk to about running a tricked up auto for drag racing.

the only time I'd ever buy an auto is if someone cuts off my left leg :P

..but i guess to some people "driving" is just pointing the car in the right direction. :roll: :evil: :evil:

do the sigma/scorpion 904's share anything in common with the valiant ones?

U can have a Manual when u have a Saturn LOL

Get a turbo with some nice power, and try keep a clutch under it..
Wont happen Pal.

Shaw u can spend 3000 bux on a 6 speed Manual and clutch. But for 1500 you can get a killa auto thats faster...

Tricked up auto's are the way to go. And for street use, once you master left foot braking, they are even further ahead.

The Sigma is the only manual car I have owned in the last 20 years.

I've never owned or driven a saturn powered car.

mine have all been valiants or scorpions.

my '67 VC is going to be a very streetable worked 318 6bbl with a toyota W57 box and an LSD.

I personally CAN'T STAND high stall autos, they're a pain in the ass to drive and only give you about 12mpg if you take it easy!

I might not be as fast on the 1/4 mile but I'd have more fun being slow :P

My car actually hasnt done a pass yet. I might post my gearbox blowing at heathcote on you tube. And then me pissing on the jap g/box on red tube.
Blown 2 output shafts and a diff. Both gearbox's were jap 5 speeds and standand borg warner diff.
Made 199.7kw atw, I'm sure would get in the 12's. If the driveline will hold.

I must have got the chinese built jap 5 speeds????

I

Ive got a 2800 stall with to4z and its not much different to a standard auto (apart from manual shifting). And as far as mileage goes it gets about 350 -400 kays out of an 80ltr tank (LPG) thrashing the arse out of it.

why did you quote that ??

Sigmare
Ford never made a C9 and C10 gear box and you will never find any FOA documentation on these boxes this is aussie slang for variations of the C4 try and find parts for these from TCI B&M etc

theres 3 (excluding the C5) variations of the C4

Early case fill

Late case fill

Pan fill

Early C4 has stepped case where the bell joins, bell bolts to pump, dip stick enters the case, 24 spline input shaft and a tube type breather that runs over the top of the servo housing, this is the easiest way to id a 24 spline C4

Late medium duty C4 has stepped case like early C4 bell bolts to pump, is also case fill but has the breather in the extension housing it also has a 26 spline input shaft

Heavy duty C4 has a sloped case where the bell joins,bell bolt to case, dip stick enters the pan has breather in extension housing and 26 spline input shaft

Bell off case fill will fit pan fill but not the other way

C5 is the only variant of the C4 thats actually called something other that a C4

It looks like a late case fill C4 but has a deeper pan and a lock up converter

Lp the term C9 and C10 only exist in aus its in reference to years of variant design but ONLY IN AUS and not by FOA

C = decade 60

4 = 64 first design of C4 series

9 = 69

10 = 70

But the C5 is the newest variant of the C4 and going of the Aussie system that would make it a 1965 design

C6 is a totally different and shares nothing with the C4 its a single piece bell/case has 31 spline input shaft and is massive compared to the C4

You forgot there is also a C3.

Who needs a transbrake when you can get a 1.5 60ft of the foot brake using a baby 904.

The best C4 to use was out of the 6 cylinder xd's.

yeah i wasnt going to get into the C3 as its a completely different box again shares nothing with the C4, has no external servo pistons and usually found behind a pinto engine
