A late model scorpion diff is a 10 bolt, and a EX lancer lsd is a 10 bolt also. Spline count will be the same and it is just the tailshaft flange that EXRallySigma mentioned. If you start to search on trademe, your chasing a the gsr turbo version as it was the one with the lsd.

All this talk is making my EX rare in aus
i bet very rare ive had 4 ex lancer in nz were im from youd be searchin for ages tryin to find the dif your talking about its also inderpendant to a mate of mine had 1 years ago i try buying waving cash in front of him still wouldnt sell turbo gsr sigmas with the 4 g63 all so have the same type of diff dnt think there many here in aus and there not many left in nz hope that helps

Reviving an old thread.....

I have a '78 GE and was wondering how far off the Lancer 2000 EX Turbo rear axle would be as the mountings look very similar for bolting the entire unit in. Has anyone offered these up or know if it's a good swap. I'm looking at sourcing one in the next few weeks to try.

The 2000 EX Lancer diff is identical to the SCorpion 10 bolt diff. The only difference is it was available in LS and had vented rotors.
I have one of each sitting on the floor in the shed and that is the only difference. You will probably need to use your current mounting arms but the mounts are the same.

Hopefully in the next month or two i can provide some pics of my new diff going in TUFSIG so you can see in detail what had to be done to put one in a GK. i think that will give us all a good idea and future members too

A112H....does that mean you can buy any old Scorpion diff (assuming it's LSD) and then source EX 2000 calipers and rotors???

Yes but it doesn't have to be a LSD, all the 10 bolt housings are the same. I have a cactus EX Lancer housing with the LS centre, so I have bought a GH Scorpion diff. I will replace the LS centre with the open wheeler in the Scorpion housing. It is a straight swap. I also will be using a set of 3.308 gears on the LS centre as they are also interchangable and I don't want 3.89 ratio anymore, thats the same as the stock hardtop diff and it is pulling about 3300rpm in 5th at 110k's.
My Fairmont pulls about 2100rpm at 110k's and it runs a 2.78 LSD BW78 so I reckon the 3.308 should drop me to about 2800ish rpm.

4th gear is OD......3rd gear is direct drive (1:! ratio)

you'll probably find that the ratio is either 3:45 or 3:23 and 3rd gear will see nearly 3k rpm @ 60mph

5th gear in the hardtop is OD also, so his maths may prove to be about right in regards to final drive ratio... either way 3.3 down from 3.8 should see a small reduction in revs (and fuel...) with out adversley effecting acceleration (especially with a power increase :P ) and increasing top speed! (for the track...)

i am more interested in how easily the GH Carrier fits in the GC Shell? is there an increse in track?
Cheers Ben

Jap 5 speed box, 3.308 Jap diff , 225-50-16 tires (approx 315mm radius) and it should be very close to 2500rpm at 100kph in 5th.

Checked with a datalogger (for RPM) and a GPS (for speed)..

Cheers.

Yep, the Scorpion/EX Lancer diff is about 40mm wider than the Galant diff. Slight lip and gentle stretch of the rear guards and my rims will fill the arches nicely
