Diff q's

Post by webby »

I've got a couple questions 'bout diffs and stuff so here they are.
1: Dad's got an old 4WD diesel L200 farm ute that I can pinch the diff from, once it dies. What's the width of the diff, and the ratio? It's a diesel 1984 model, if that helps.
If it's a similar width to a Scorpion diff, it'll be a cheap option for an LSD in the GE.
2: I've heard that early (GE) manual Scorpion's have a 3.9 diff ratio. If this is the case, can I swap the centre into a GJ housing?

It's a 1978 GE Scorpion, 4G52 5 speed, so I'd assume 10. Jap diff, def not B/W p00. Not sure on the 8 or 10 bolt front 'coz Dad won't let me put the car in the shed because it's not running and therefore not worth fixing, so I can't jack the car up 'coz the jack just sinks into the mud, even with a plank under it.
