High Power Rear End/Diff What are you guys using?

Post by DriveBy »

As title says, what are you 300+ power owners using to get that torque to the tarmac?

I have a Lancer EX Turbo rear axle for my GE project with EVO 5-8 engine, R154 box but I’m pretty sure the EX diff won’t last long even if I do get unrated shafts made.

Any input welcome and appreciated

I've heard that the galant VR-4 centre are good......and have heard that the starion centres aren't too bad......but I've had no personal experience with either of them

EX-Lancer and Small JA-JB Starion Diff centers are the same size as the 10 bolt Jap diff and will bolt straight in.

The EVO centers (and possibly the VR4's as well) are a bit different.
The axle size is larger than an 8 bolt jap diff and BW, but smaller than the 10 bolt.
The actual diff centre is close to the Jap 8 bolt and may fit, with a lot of tinkering.

Cheers.

What about looking at something "outside the box" (pun not intended)

Getting a complete disc to disc rear-end from a smaller car.....say a base model impreza...what about an E30 BMW? (I'm not sure if these cars have IRS or not...more merely a suggestion)

I’ve seen someone use a HiLux LSD axle but older stuff like that is so damn rare here in the UK

I know the 4 bolt narrowbody starion is an option but still may not hold up to 400/400. Not looking to track it just don’t want to put my foot down and turn the back half of the car into shrapnel
