2.6L Astron and 2.0L GearBox Matchup, for 1975 Galant

Post by Black26AstronGalant »

Hey all.
i have a 2.6l astron motor and a 2l astron 5 spd gearbox that i would like to fit to the 2.6l engine.
but the 2.0l fly wheel does not fit on the 2.6l.
once i have a 2.6l fly wheel will it all just bolt together nicely and fit into my 1975 galant or what problems will i encounter how do i fix them?

Cheers.

Hey mate.

Measure the outside bolt holes on your 2.6. compare to the 2lt and make sure it will bolt up.

also, depending on where your 2lt gear box came from, you may have to "adjust" your gear selector hole in the car back about 50mm.
-Will probably also find you will need to modify the rear crossmember for the gearbox mount to line up too (make sure you use a gear box mount from a sigma - the galant ones don't like the extra weight).
-speedo cable, tail shaft etc :)

Nick.

PS: Welcome to the site - please excuse the spam at the moment

EDIT: oh, and grab some engine mounts to suit a GH sigma... unless you like the motor to flap around like a kinder surprise
