diff for ecotec'd wagon

Post by brendon »

HI guys,

I've read through some some other posts re diff options. I was looking along the lines of a BW VS commo.
My only other thoughts are:
Skyline (maybe narrower)
a VL turbo or VK v8 diff (harder to find/more expensive)
Hilux (have to change to discs etc)
something else?

I already have a diff from a vs, so fairly confident I'll go that path, just gathering some opinion to makes sure I've assessed most possibilities

here's some pics

I'll start a build thread when i get a chance.

Pretty sure all Sigmas used the 8 bolt diff. Chuck a Scorpion 10 bolt under it. They are much stronger than the 8 bolt and should be fine behind a V6

yeah thought about a scorpion diff but ruled it out due to:
no lsd/lockers (bar welding it up), limited ratios, minimal after market parts, availability, strength (Stronger then sigma but may want to supercharge/'work' ecotec later, scorp diff strength comes into play).

I'm also tired of doing things ok but not great and having to fix them later on, so trying to build/buy once. "do it right the first time...

I have a EX Lancer LS centre in my 10 bolt Scorpion housing
The complete EX diff is the same as Scorpion but with vented (Starion) rotors. Ratios available are (rounded) 3.2, 3.45, 3.89 and 4.2 and 4.6 rally options if you can find one.
The 10 bolt crown and pinion are interchangable with L200, L300 and Pajero so high ratios are available. In fact all solid axle (Non IRS like Starion) have interchangable crown and pinions
Here is a full LSD for sale in NZ
