As far as I know all l200 4x4s were 2lt ,the early ones 4sp and later ones 5sp,Then they went to 2.6lt wide blocks in the tritons

You can't bolt a narrow block bell housing to a wide block. Or vise versa.

Also, the l200s also came out with a 2.0 sohc 4g63 :)

If your gearbox is wide, so will your engine. And only a wide block box will go on it.

Oh yea? Cool! So you need to keep the transfer case then? Or are you going rwd like a baja truck? The only thing you gotta watch is that the engine you're using never came out in a 4wd before. So it mightn't like the angles and load it will get.

Eg, a hilux often gets a v6 commode engine put into it for power. But what nobody realises is that it's for a 2wd road car, so things like the oil pickup aren't positioned correctly for off road use. My dad has done this and we've learnt the hard way. With the v6 hilux setup in particular. You put it up a steep hill and the oil pickup ends up out of the oil. The engine then can't get any oil, then bang! Your stuck.. We went through 3 engines and 5 gearboxes before we realised what was happening.

So just be careful with this conversion as it may not work like it should :)
