4g32 twin solex air filter

Post by Leeroy »

Where can i buy replacement air filters for the twin solex carbies? They are small and round as seen in the photo below.
I took out the insert and showed the guy at repco and supercheap but they couldn't help me.

They aren't the original air filters - they are a generic aftermarket thing. You should be able to get replacement paper ones at any Autobarn or similar.

Alternatively, get some Unifilter replacements as Jason suggests - not cheap, but you will never have to buy another one (and they work better). Just specify the diameter & height you need.

Seeing the twin downdraught Solex setup was never available in Australia in the first place, you won't find them listed anywhere.

You will need to either :
- get the measurements and compare them to other similar-suzed filters (I have a feeling the filter for the twincarb Mazda 323/Ford Laser was very close ?), or
- Unfilter will make cleanable foam filters on a metal cage to any size & shape you want (I ended up doing this for one I had years ago)

If you have the original air filter housing for the twin carbs, then this link might be able to help you out.

Someone else was asking the same question. I replied in the link with a part no. for the paper type air filter.

Other wise you might be able to find one in NZ as the twin carbs came out on the 16L GS and the GTO's.
