wastegate

putting a waste gate on the intake pipe going over the rockercover does anyone reckon that would work? couldn't see why not. this is for blow through set up.

Wouldn't that stop the air/fuel mixture getting to the engine, rather than slowing down the turbo to limit boost? Just do it normal!

It will work if your aiming to spray fuel all over the place.

blow through means the air blows thorugh the from the turbo to the carby. so there would be no air/fuel mixture. only air. u guys are talking about draw through.

Why not just get a turbo with an internal wastegate.

So you want to just plumb it in like a blowoff valve and just dump the excess pressure under the bonnet before it get to the carb. I am still trying to think of a reason this wouldnt work. Cant think of one ATM, but I guess someone will.

So you want to overspin your turbo and bleed excess boost before it gets to the motor. Sounds like a shithouse idea.

Just stick the wastegate were it should be, so it can direct air around the turbo so it holds a nice flat consistent boost. Internal gates are pretty handy and save space and plumbing.

yea but if im running 10 pound and i want some extra kick ill just push a button to close the wastegate there we go some extra boost of a push of a button. ill try it if it doesn't work ill do it the old fashion way

age old forum question: why do ppl bother asking other more experienced members for their opinions and ideas about something,
when its quite obvious that they have their mind already made up, and have no intention of taking the advise of those that have more experience on board :?:

i have a friend who runs a pulling tractor that has a twin ebay turbo'd 360

turbos blow into an 1150 dom, boost pressure is regulated by a 60mm blow off valve on the carb hat

works well for him

LOL hope ur mate with his tractor can harvest some extra wheat this year coz his ebay turbo is gonna last 1/2fa more season!! LOL

U think the fastest cars around are using wastegates as blow off valves.. Get off the grass..

1 thing thats pisse* me off on this site is ppl have access ( STANDED ) turbo setups.

Not the gemini, corolla, ECT ppl have an easy option of turboing there cars they all slug it out and do custom manifolds and carbys Ra ra ra....

But they still do it the simple way...

We have the most easy way to turbo ur car and make it fast BUT yet we still try to make things hard buy putting turbos in our boots, Electric boosters, superchargers, wastegate as blow off valves..

Every1 wants a turbo. but when they pop up on ebay no1 wants it for 800 bux.. Whats the problem.

$800 bucks a where?
ive never seen a sigma turbo set complete let alone
for sale
from what i see there were only 500 of these made and people
are collecting them these days so where you gunna pick one up
then you manage to buy it and over pay cause there "rare" every
single part is f---ked so,rebuild turbo face manifold that probably
cracked with ugly egr pipe hanging out everywhere then you have to
sort out the inlet manifold witch doesnt fit astron 2
all to achieve not that much power?
what sort hp do you get?
you cuold do a custom set up for half the price if you have half
a clue
so i dont know what your getting at dude as standard set ups are non existant
these days

There are guys on this site that have achieved better than 200 RWKW from a standard Sigma turbo exhaust manifold and modified Magna inlet manifold. The rest of the system is over the counter parts.

How easy does it have to be.

and sigma turbo exhuast manifolds are just everywhere is suppose
your missing the point do you want to see every sigma turbo go to the
highest bidder just so thay can strip it for the turbo parts then wreck
the shell?
ps im not saying you cant make good power its just the factory set up
that is lacking in inspiration seriously :o

I got the point ;)

This site can account for probably 10 turbo manifolds

Where are the other 490  . They couldnt have all developed cracks.

Maybe DRSGMA, who has not come over to the new site as yet , has a big stash of turbo manifolds in storage.

Or you can do this:

It makes a touch under 1000hp and has been running fault free for 4 years

Most of the fastest cars dont run a blow off valve at all or even an intercooler for that matter

But if you had a waste gate handy and wanted a BOV you could use it and it would work just like a bov would work as a device to regulate manifold boost pressure

I got 3 factory manifolds(i think). Only one has a very slight warp on wastegate flange.
There super heavy thick castings, they dont crack or warp like just about any jap/euro skinny casting.

Stealth Ive seen many kits on ebay, hell ive bought two of them one for about 1k the other for bout half that. Neither were totally complete though. Infact finding a complete kit with everything is about impossible.

Full kits would need
turbo
manifold
wastegate
intake manifold
cross over pipe
carby, adpadtor to turbo + air cleaner
oil filter sandwitch plate
oil cooler + lines
oil in/out water in/out for turbo
turbo dizzy
heat shields
sump with oil drain

so you can see there lots of little bits to the kit, usually you can just make stuff but that gets expensive.

As for this STUPID thread. BOOOOOOoooooooo

Theres a fucking turbo gh sigma with a blow through carb on ebay right fucking now for 2k buy it now.

my diahatsu charade motor is a factory turrbs and it has a "over pressure valve " located on top of the hat that fits on top of the carb plumbed back into the air box b4 the turbo

so yes ,it can be done.

.....but as others have said dont do this with a suck through
keep trying, it WILL break !!!!!!
