Where about are you from turbol200? I have a 4g63 here that I pulled apart, it is a complete engine from a JA Starion. I will never use it and don't know if it is any good but I don't want much for it and it would be perfect to play with.
I and the engine are in SA however.

I thought about it, but instead of using the 8v '63 head I'd use the SOHC 16v Magna/Triton 4G64 head to get it to breathe somewhat better.

I reckon it'd go alright with 10-10.5:1 comp, a middling cam, balanced high-comp bottom end, the 16v head, individual throttles etc, especially in a light car like a Galant, Lancer or GE :)

hey im in tassie mate, thanks for the offer mate but id be looking for a narrow block, iv thought about this for a bit, twin cam would be good, but then there is the whole thermostate thing and cas, = more money lol, i know that cars are big money lol, thats why im leaning the way of sohc, i think thats 4g64 heads have 3mm bigger valves but are hyd, and dont think there adjustable, where you can get adjustable rockers on a 63, keeping in mind that spending money on this car is ok but i dont want to get the bill up to much lol

Sounds like what you are after is the same as what my dad used to have in his old GB.
It was a 4G63 GS motor with flat top pistons, cam, and twin solex carbies putting out about 100kw, all off a early Sapporo GSR from NZ. Unfortunately these motors weren't sold in Aus and are getting hard to find even in NZ.

There are two of these motors floating about in Aus, one in my dad's old blue GB and a yellow LB sedan that he did the same conversion to.

I think $150 is pretty fair, plus postage. PM me if you want to talk about it more.

He bought a 4G63 from an L300 and sourced the pistons, cam and carb's from Kempy's wreckers in NZ. This was atleast 20 years ago.

The 16v head came with both rocker types if I remember right.
There was also a 16v SOHC version of the 4G63 used in the HJ Galant, not sure how common it'd be though.

This 4G63 was from a 1985 L300 which had 9.5:1 comp ratio same as the GS motor. They were only in L200/300 for about 18 months. New pistons may be available in generic form. They were very shallow dish, not flat top.
Only other mods were carbs modified to mechanical secondaries plus other carb tweeks, regraphed distributor and a set of L300 modified extractors and 2" system.

It was certainly quicker than a 3 lt VL dunnydoor (as was my manual TM Magna)
