I thought it would be cool to see pics of some of the biggest Horsepower, and coolest looking engines,
Please post pics and the stories behind them.
Here is mine,
V16, Twin Super charged, Quad Turbo... No idea what the power figures would be,
but ill bet there is afew Nm of torque there
Its out of one of these, and this is a Small truck.
And just to give abit scale, This is a dump truck body with a Water tank on the back, they use this for dust supression on the haul roads.
Fuel tanker, road grader, landcruiser.

^^ Although that is one of those filthy yellow engines, lol, that would be a 4000 series if it was a Detroit. Just to blow you guys away a 4000 series is named that because of the cylinder capacity, yes you guessed it each one of those 16 cylinders is 4lt, the same as a Falcon engine per cylinder and can make over 2700hp at 1800rpm.
They are also available in 8V4000 and 12V4000

the Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96C in line 14 cylinder
max power 108,920 Hp @ 102 rpm
max torque 5,608,312 ft/lb torque ( over 5 1/2 million ft/lb ) @ 102 rpm
25,480 litre engine
eng weight 2300 tons - crank weight 300 tons
lenth 89 ft height 44 ft
now thats a lot of engine

I forgot to mention above that the engines in those massive dump trucks are only there to drive a generator. Those trucks are actually electricly driven

Wow Cheater, Thats a Donk!
But looking at it, apart from the obvious size difference, and the Crosshead design,
it still functions similar to most engines.
Amazing power figures but!!
And GalantGTO is right, that motor drives a generator mounted in the Truck body and that in turn drives some massive electric motors attached to the rear wheels.
Electric motors have much much more torque for size.
One of the funniest things ive seen is a fully loaded dump truck (about 100Tonne) driving sideways along the haul road after its been raining
Here is the biggest electric motor ive worked on.
Its driving a pump.
1200KW

that's sooo much torque. I wanna see a rich car nut like the Sultan of Brunei build a car to scale around that engine just for the hell of it.the Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96C in line 14 cylinder
