REAR MAIN SEAL REPLACEMENT

Post by LEE »

Ok guys , the triton has been running for a couple of months now , without a hickup , till about a month ago when I fitted some 265 rubber on the rear , and the clutch started to slip at 10psi, no probs I thought no more hard launches , save up and retro fit a hd pressure and a button plate, now the rear main is pooring oil out ,so its time for the box to come off, my question is ,as I havent done an engine rebuild, nor a rear main seal on a 54 in at least 12 years, is it possible to change without braking the sump gasket as I remember you have to put the seal in from the rear of the carrier, or is it a pry out like the later mitsu engines , model is an astron 2 rwd 93 vintage - cheers in advance
