Hey all,
Well was playing around with the Galant for the first time in a while...
Have noticed that she hasn't really been running right for some time, but seems to of amplified a bit since been sitting for a little while (not that i mind... makes it easier to track down the problem lol).
So... at idle it seems to have a constant miss, and seems to hesitate a bit as you go to accelerate (back fires here and there too).
Also noticed when you go to accelerate, the tacho drops down to [0] first, and then jumps back up.
-All of this being in neutral.
Has me a bit confused, previously i have thought it to be a bad valve or the likes, but going by what the tacho was doing today... maybe not...
Suggestions would be tops, so far have eliminated the ignition module with the GH's old one.
Cheers all,
Nick.

Re: Engine not running right....
...really should of elaborated a bit more (my bad)
This is in regards to a 2lt astron with electronic ignition.
-Reluctor gap seems to be okay, will double check with the manual though. Cap & arm are new.
Plugs are also new & carbs are freshly built, pumps working fine.
Will check the lead resistance though (should have a spare set somewhere...)
The bit that is throwing me is the tacho dropping right down, bit odd.

Re: Engine not running right....
When the ignition module starts to go, you will get an occasional miss and the tachometer will bounce around occasionally.
It may last several weeks like this before it fails completely.
Cheers.

A third vote for the module. had one fail with these symptoms.
Also had one that I thought was about to fail, but it wasnt earthed properly.

Re: Engine not running right....
Cheers for the replys all.
As O/P said, have tried another module that i know is working fine. still no effect.
On to the latest. Have checked leads, all read okay. Also checked the module is earthed, no worries there.
I'm a bit sus on the dizzy, so had a look through the shed & found a dizzy to suit the later model sigma's (in built module).
So who feels like telling me how to wire it up
Cheers.
Nick.
PS: My computer died during the week... so not able to look through any of the schematics and manuals i had

Re: Engine not running right....
Cheers for the link Tango, already have it wired up, but good to double check.
Was seriously rushed for time (read coil taped & zip tied to battery clamp ). Fired it up, ran straight away and from the sound of a cold engine with out of balance side draughts... much better
Finally going to be able to tune the carbs right (yay!!)
Would be interesting to know what bit of the old ignition system was at fault... will sit them aside to have a gander over for a rainy day lol.
Cheers all.
Nick.
PS: & a thanks to Astron Boy for uploading some manuals!!
